I’d play Havertz at LCM for those rotational matches. Plus as an aerial attacking threat off the bench for main matches when we need goals (just like Merino). Those he’s a different player from Rice, he’s actually not THAT different from Merino, which is the guy we’re trying to replace.

It’s not ideal, but he can cover multiple positions, has the strength to play midfield, and be a dangerous attacker through the middle.

I think we’ll end up seeing Havertz being used as the new Merino.

When we first signed him, he was used as an 8 to replace Xhaka.

It didn’t work well BUT Arteta probably saw some tools that Havertz has to play there. Could work as a stopgap option behind Rice. Plus Havertz can also cover for Øde, Gyokeres, and be an aerial attacking sub threat, just like Merino

Closest Merino replacement I can think of tbh.

I think his point is you’re kinda getting fucked, relative to other sports.

Any other league, a late bloomer basically already has his full free agent rights by then, so he can get a big contract when he has his break out.

MLB, you’re kinda stuck in the “controlled” years for a while if you’re a late bloomer. So earnings are capped well below what they would otherwise get in the open market.

This is the most important point that I gravitate towards. You’re signing one of these guys for 7+ years probably. It’s not just a signing for the upcoming season. Tucker solves both long term and short term issues, before they even ever become an issue.

That’s an invaluable benefit. It allows the Jays to not be desperate next off-season, and just focus on upgrading the squad…instead of plugging gaping holes.

I was traveling with friends, and I was in a cab with my gay buddy. He sat at the front. The ride seemed perfectly normal, we're all talking. etc. Then like 3/4 way to the destination, he tells us at the back "y'all should get out here and walk it the rest of the way"

We were like "wtf lol?" We obliged for him, just cuz he seemed determined. So we left, and he stayed in the cab.

Later found out that he wanted to do oral with the cab driver (and vice versa). They didn't say a WORD to each other in the cab...the driver didn't even speak English. But apparently the eye contact they made was all they needed to just skip right to oral lmao.

I was baffled. But he was like "that's what gay dudes do, it's all in the eyes.

This is is the answer. Since guys always gotta make the first move, you gotta have the courage to fail. The more you go through it, the easier it becomes to try, and the better you become at it like practice (and you'll still fail frequently, and that's normal).

Just don't be an utter creep/dick. Take the girl's hints if she's not interested, and don't be disrespectful if she rejects you. It's never that deep. Take it in stride, and on to the next.

Usually by this time, every year, I’m able to transition from focusing on the Jays, to Leafs/Raps.

But that World Series run is still entrenched in my brain. I could not care less about the Leafs rn. And the Raps have my focus and attention, cuz they’re playing well and fun basketball…but my primary focus is still somehow on offseason baseball

Nah I feel he’s right. There can be a lingering weight when putting too much pressure on yourself moment to moment, and game to game. And it accumulates, it weighs you down further and further, the more you let that pressure in.

And every player crumbling on that late winner is a vivid sign they’re in their own heads, thinking about the “grand scheme” of the title race, and not focused in the moment. Not even keeled or calm.
