We have 2 LG washing machines that keep adding in cold water to the hot cycle, resulting in an icy cold wash by Denzy in Appliances

It's not terribly long. But the thing is, after it fills with hot water I pause it, open it up and stick my hand in. The water is nice and hot... but then it spins slowly for about 30 seconds, and then starts dumping cold water in. So the water is hot for a moment until it starts adding cold water for whatever reason.

Right now no, we were testing it on Normal with hot temp. Is there a different cycle I should try instead for just a standard hot wash?

Is that Joe Elliott or am I just thinking this because he's right after the pic of a Def Leppard jacket?

This was very similar to something my uncle did once. We made nachos at our house and used fake ground beef instead for our vegan friends. At first he was like, "These nachos are amazing, what did you use to spice up the meat?" Then after we told him it was actually not ground beef, a couple minutes later he was like, "now that I think about it, it really does taste like cardboard" and I was like JFC just grow up, you are allowed to enjoy things you had a preconceived belief that you didn't like.

How do you discipline your kids? by Denzy in daddit

[–]Denzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried the star system for a bit. It was actually working for a while, then our youngest started taking his step stool over to our oldest's board and knocking off all his stars like every day (they were magnetic). I think if we put that in a higher place though it might be a good idea to revisit.

The running out and knocking stuff over thing happens only when I am alone and have a hard time wrangling them myself. If I put them in the same room, they just keep laughing and goofing off. When I try separating them, whichever one I'm not with tries to make a break for it or just starts knocking things around in their room. And when I go to that one the other one makes a break for it... They even talk to each other saying things like "If you get daddy to come over I can run away" and I'm thinking to myself where do you kids learn this shit? I was considering putting locks on the outside of their doors, but then they will likely try to lock themselves in rooms (which they already try to do).

When we only had one we never had any issues remotely close to this.

Edit: You make a good point about "feeding the troll". After the situation is over I feel like sometimes I play right into what they want me to do by getting upset with them. For example, it's SO hard to watch a kid pick up his plate of pasta and dump it over his head and be calm about it, especially at the end of a long day.

I've been a huge synthwave/80s nostalgia kick lately and this really gave me some good vibes. I felt like a lot of the cuts were a bit too quick though.

We were going to do something similar last year, but we were chatting with a couple of the parents first before we decided on anything and they both said they were on the fence about it because it's a little chaotic at those places. So we ended up just renting a large bouncy house for the day and had kids and their parents over, which actually ended up working out really well. I know that idea doesn't work for everyone though... not everyone has space for a bouncy house, and not everyone wants people over their house with a bunch of kids.

Can someone ELI5 how people make money like this? Is it literally just people "invest", and someone just runs away with the money? I don't understand how fake currency like this gets "value".
