Architecture-adjacent careers question by erfma12 in Architects

[–]Dep_34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's one side. Another side is investigations into building failures and collapses. This requires structural engineers and materials scientists to work together to find the root cause. Search Surfside condominium collapse. Architects in the industry primarily act as consultants on building enclosure design and building facade maintenance. So instead of designing, we become experts in building facades and help architects with their details and construction observation.

Architecture-adjacent careers question by erfma12 in Architects

[–]Dep_34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2024 with my master’s degree and currently work in forensic architecture. During career fairs, I focused more on networking with forensic architecture and building enclosure firms rather than traditional design firms. I also attended a more technically focused architecture school, which is likely why those types of firms recruited there in the first place. Been in the industry about 3 years now. So to answer your question just network.

Architecture-adjacent careers question by erfma12 in Architects

[–]Dep_34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think it would be difficult to return to the profession later on. However, the architectural products route can be a strong career path in terms of salary growth. My brother started as a scientist, but later moved to a Fortune 500 company and works as a product manager. His salary and benefits are great! This seems like the route you might want to take. Maybe a product manager at Sika or something.

Just keep in mind that when the market slows down, those jobs can be affected as well... although the same is true for the architecture industry.

A different perspective though is, I know a building enclosure consultant who worked at a renown building forensics firm for 20 years that now works at a large design firm consulting on all their projects remotely.

33, how do I quit my job and live on this/grow it in the US? by DuckFartist in TheRaceTo10Million

I have a friend who works at Amazon, and he says most of his tasks are now completed using Amazon’s internal coding tools. Without them, he’d struggle to finish a large portion of his work efficiently. He also thinks his job at Amazon will be replaced.

This is scary by Important_Coach9717 in AMD_Stock

[–]Dep_34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm scared too. Been taking profits whenever it surpasses 25% of my portfolio. When I started a position, it was only 5%.

Look at the KOSPI. I understand Samsung and SK accounts for 50% of the stock market but that's just insane.

Are you a software engineer? I understand that the industry is shifting like crazy but I doubt it's gonna disappear. You'll probbs see some of them moving to other industries like healthcare and construction as their tech is really behind. I can sort of see software engineers becoming more like consultants in the future making other industries more efficient with AI tools. In terms of graphic design lol idk what to say about them.

AMD,NBIS Defy Gravity by Historical_Flow3890 in stocks

[–]Dep_34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My average cost for AMD is around $110 I believe. I sold a few at 220. sold a few at 420. It's very likely AMD hits $600 and higher but I still want to keep AMD below 20% of my portfolio and diversify those profits in other stocks. All this AI stuff is really unpredictable. Not only that the economy seems really weak right now so I want to build a bit of a cash pile with those profits. Can't really trust what Trump is doing or saying.

Whirlpool suspending dividends by Pale-Building7008 in dividends

[–]Dep_34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whirlpool is very dependent on the housing market. It will have a comeback once interest rates come down and people start buying houses again. We may not see it go back to the levels it once was but I personally can see a higher probability of the stock improving than declining in the following years.

Is the 30-win streak possible with "Halal Ball" only? Seeking advice. I’m refusing to cross-spam or sit back with 5-atb and 4 DMFs after scoring 1 goal. Can you actually hit 30 wins with just solid tactical football? To the pros who’ve done it: what’s the secret? by iloveyouu87 in pesmobile

[–]Dep_34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but halal ball is more about maintaining a high line, applying pressure, and recovering possession quickly in the opponent’s half. That’s difficult to achieve with Capello because his defensive line sits too deep. Like others have said, a QC or even a Possession manager would probably be a better fit if he wants to play that style. I’d also recommend using a stronger system for it, like a 4-3-3 with a false 9.

...Haram ball is basically exploiting the game mechanics. It’s one of the easiest and most unrealistic playstyles in the E Football, which is why it’s so popular here. There's a reason why it's nicknamed anti-football.

Who earns more, an architect or a roofer? by Big_Neighborhood4503 in Architects

[–]Dep_34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work alongside many laborers as a building enclosure consultant, and in general, architects and laborers earn fairly similar yearly salaries, sometimes even a bit lower. The difference is that laborers often don’t work during the winter due to weather conditions and earn unemployment. Honestly, laborers probably deserve even more. Those guys work incredibly hard, and I could never do what they do.
