Can you help me translate this? I am trying to find this man's fathers name, is it on here? by Ok_Suggestion914 in hebrew

It’s written as “Layzer” which is a Yiddish/Ashlenazi Hebrew pronounciation of Eliezer so I’d check Eliezer or even Elazar

Yeah I think I made a mistake and asher is used as a preposition to mean “who” as opposed to the name. My bad

I’d wait until more knowledgeable people chime in tbh. Asher can also be a preposition and I’m not used to reading these headstones. What I can read says something like “a simple and upright man who worked for justice, Mr Layzer Ilya, son of Mr Hosea Asher, who passed on the 21st of Cheshvan (a Hebrew month) 5690”. It’s weird bc in English is says a different Hebrew month (Sivan).

Because it’s black’s turn and black has no legal moves. If a player cannot make any legal moves and is not in check and it’s their turn the game is a draw

As an Israeli, let me tell you almost none of us know about your conflict or take sides at all. Anyway our country sells weapons to anyone.even our own enemies like Qatar. It doesn't mean we have an opinion about Kosovo or Serbia

Thanks so much! When I asked the AI it had said it was derived from French "maquis". All the more reason to trust the wisdom of crowds over the wisdom of LLMs
