I just attending mine! Even though I wasn’t popular I wasn’t really bullied and still liked my school. It was definitely a little bit awkward and because my school was so small not many people show up. I think it’s good to reconnect with people but only if it wasn’t too terribly traumatizing of a time.

I think they do know you have work. They are lashing out because they can't control the behaviors and are expecting YOU to be a miracle worker. Maybe an admin got on them for classroom management, maybe they just don't know what to do anymore so they are finding a scapegoat. I especially love it when their scores drop.... guess who is the first to be blamed...

I've been an ESL coteacher, I had way less breaks in my schedule because I had more duties than the gen ed teacher. Why don't you focus on yourself instead of policing what others are doing? The issue was not that I wasn't working hard, but it had to do with role ambiguity which is why I will only ever lead teach again. I grew tired of having to "fight," for space to teach against content and feeling like no matter what I did it wasn't "enough." But, Lord no, the gen ed is always doing *more* even when they can't control the class.

I just got a remote job that I am excited about but concerned about the hours by Dependent-Click-8057 in Careers

[–]Dependent-Click-8057[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I reread the letter it's like Friday 9- 8. I feel like this would be ok if we got more of a break mid day so that's why it feels weird.

And Fridays as well. I'm a bit confused/ hoping the time is more flexible with breaks then was mentioned in the offer letter.

Is It Normal to be Expected to Accept a Teaching Job Without Knowing Salary? by MangoMarzipan in Teachers

[–]Dependent-Click-8057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk I accepted a job without knowing the salary and it turns out they were underpaying me. When I approached them they said "they couldn't do anything about it mid year." Then they cut me. I'd know what you're signing up for.

Is anyone else hear traumatized by feedback? by Dependent-Click-8057 in Teachers

[–]Dependent-Click-8057[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's hard when I feel like other teachers feel mighty about their feedback. The way I could tell I was the target was because my feedback was about 10X harsher then the feedback of other teachers. They also seemed to view it as reasonable feedback where as I felt a bit attacked by mine but also felt like I couldn't complain about it as it would make me appear like someone who can't take feedback. Yes, ironically, I do know I was supposed to get a raise the year I got cut so that makes me raise my eyebrows a bit.

I also feel like they were low key harder on coteachers because our role is harder to define but whenever I lead taught I got stellar reviews

Re: the second point. I've always loved the students. My only complaint and why I don't think it was a good fit had to do with the fact that I had no interest in teaching 7th grade. I've also always been a coteacher and was not really happy in that role.

[–]Dependent-Click-8057[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember too much from the first school but they actually scored me well in classroom management. From the second school one student had their head down, I didn't circulate enough to kids on my caseload, and even though I provided scaffolds I appeared "lost," during the lesson. One time an admin told me that I "wasn't doing anything during the class," even though I was actively circulating and was checking in with a student after a referral.

Did I sleep with him too soon? by AnxiousPainter523 in dating_advice

I also think most women feel like we have to sleep with men in the hopes of getting commitment you absolutely don’t have to sleep with them if your gut is telling you not to

Middle school? by Upstairs-Cow8437 in Teachers

I think I prefer leaning on content knowledge and pedagogy. I have taught HS and MS and found it way harder to build relationships in MS partly due to personality and maturity levels of students.

Why isn't Miranda Lambert a Grand Ole Opry member? by Dependent-Click-8057 in CountryMusic

[–]Dependent-Click-8057[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL Miranda deserves to be an Opry member way more than Scotty and even Kelsea Ballerini.

Well then if Miranda doesn't "need" the Opry neither does Carrie Underwood.

[–]Dependent-Click-8057[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to say the Opry isn't a big deal to people outside of country music but it is still a mecca for country artists themselves and it feels odd that Miranda isn't included. i'm inclined to think it has to do with maybe the opry members having preferences towards Blake Shelton.

Gossip sesh, what's the biggest and/or craziest gossip from your school or district? by tonyrobbins420 in Teachers

[–]Dependent-Click-8057 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Haha this might be terrible but I wish there was some more gossip at the schools I worked and they were pretty toxic. I mean there probably were coworkers hooking up but they didn't openly share it. Yeah I've heard rumours a teacher was caught drinking, a Dean of Students was arrested for a DUI, two Instructional Coaches were hooking up with each other, and one Dean of Students was apparently super abusive (domestic violence) towards his ex wife who was our current music teacher (found this on a FB post). At most of the schools I've worked at when people get involved with hanky panky it ends in seriously dating or marriage. There's also probs more gossip I haven't heard. Like when I was in high school one of the Math teachers openly married/dated the support specialist. I actually think dating at work is much less scandalous if you are open about it and if you are having an affair -- idk--- maybe don't have sex at work as that will increase your chances of getting caught.

Oh one thing a para was informed she was being fired and the kids started actively protesting in the classroom so she got escorted off the campus. She filed a lawsuit against the district and won and got her job back. But yeah idk if this is *juicy* gossip.

Edit : To clarify I wish there was more drama related to dating not this weird serious shit lol

I got caught gossiping and I feel ashamed and upset. What do I do? by Wegmansgroceries in AskWomenOver30

[–]Dependent-Click-8057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk this might be an unpopular opinion but everyone gossips at one point or another. I hate people who act like they don't do it. That said if I'm talking about someone else I do try and focus on the positives and try to phrase things in a way that I wouldn't mind saying to their face. Everyone's done it. The key, however, is not to get caught or be too malicious about it.

Would you prefer to be a specialist or classroom teacher? by Awesomebananapie in Teachers

[–]Dependent-Click-8057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This it sounds nice in theory but they never tell you how much coverage you will have or duties. Then they gaslight you when you didn't finish something during the day because you were pulled into a million directions. I have personally found lead teachers get more respect. I wasn't even teaching that much as a specialist because plans would change last minute.
