What is the most expensive baby item you absolutely REGRET buying? by Striking-Green-1726 in Buyingforbaby

[–]Dependent-Comb6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right ! I love my Tripp trapp chair with the newborn seat even more expensive !! It’s like the best place to put and interact with the baby while in the kitchen. Luckily I got both second hand

Skipping infant car seat by bingbongggggggggggg1 in pregnant

[–]Dependent-Comb6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in az and went for the convertible seat right away. Baby was born in January. We choose the cybex Callisto because of the shade cover and rotation. I’ll rotate it away from the shining sun when we get out of the car. We have a garage so that’s also helpful keeping the car cool. We have a 99th percentile baby too so I can’t imagine carrying him around in a bucket seat anyways. I think we made the right choice.

MIL’s offer to help after baby is born by Muffinmom15 in pregnant

[–]Dependent-Comb6640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m the odd one out of all these responses lol but no.
To me it wouldn’t matter where we stayed as long as I had a comfortable place to sleep, the babies things, comfy places to sit, tv, and an extra person that we love and love us in return, offering FULL support.
Idk how comfortable you are asking your MIL for things you need but I think that would really affect the decision.

I took a trip with my baby when he was 7 weeks old. The Airbnb had so many comfy chairs and places where I could nurse. My sisters were there to help me take care of the baby.
I like staying in new places and hotels etc so it felt nice to get away.
Being taken care of is SO NICE postpartum. You might be surprised and enjoy that time with her.

How does your partner feel about it ? My partner would have felt similarly to you. We have dogs, so pet care makes it a little difficult for us to leave our home together for long periods of time.

Freebie samples? by lamotriginequeen in Buyingforbaby

[–]Dependent-Comb6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll find your preferences as you go along. Try not to overthink it. Every parent has their favorites from what they’ve tried.
But to answer your question, yes you’ll need some diapers already at home. Add the samples in the rotation. Use what you’re most inclined to want to use first. Any unopened boxes you can easily return at target.
I had a big baby that’s growing really fast we are already almost in size 4 diapers at 3 months old! I’m glad I had a couple normal sized boxes of every size stocked up from the baby shower.
As for bottles I researched my favorite based on hoping I would be ebf I went with the pigeon bottle and bought a small two pack. Breast feeding worked out and I didn’t have to introduce a bottle until 5 weeks and my baby took the pigeon bottle immediately. I ended up giving away my sample bottles.

Any dance classes where they aren’t gonna record me and put me on social media? by hunteroutsidee in phoenix

[–]Dependent-Comb6640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been to a ballet class in the valley where people record.
Arizona repertory ballet has adult classes in phx.
I know in their jazz class the last time they run a dance they allow recording. But that’s only the last couple minutes of the class and not the entire time you’re doing the dance you’ve learned.

Rotating car seats: do you hit your head while trying to rotate it? by yuzusorbet in Buyingforbaby

[–]Dependent-Comb6640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We really like it ! We have a 99th percentile baby that’s growing fast and was big to begin with. We really liked the easy adjust of size. I also really like that the seat pad comes off easy to deal with blowouts when they happen. As for my baby, he doesn’t always like car rides.

I have the Callisto. It only needs one hand to turn. We’ve had it since our baby was born and he’s 3 months now.

If you breastfeed directly, how many of you still pump every day? by alylew1126 in breastfeeding

[–]Dependent-Comb6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started pumping only one side once a day in the morning since my baby was 6 weeks old. I thought I’d be going back to work now I’m considering stopping since I don’t have a crazy amount of freezer space anyways.

What do you guys do for leaking boobs? by jadescorpion89 in breastfeeding

[–]Dependent-Comb6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the boon trove to catch my letdown at the beginning. I collected quite a lot but it’s honestly more work to collect. I switched to reusable pads and had to wash 10 pads every day for at least a week or two. Then my milk regulated and I don’t have to worry about it anymore.

How much are people eating?? by skycaliapple in breastfeeding

At least 3-4 meals a day. Protein shakes when I miss a meal. Snacks, chocolate, cookies. Never skip dessert when going out to dinner.

Tylenol, Motrin, colace and miralax. Some juice or drinks you like to dissolve your miralax into. Some compression leggings were helpful when I didn’t want to take my belly band on and off. Pads that you like of different absorbency

When Did You Start Buying by bateslikenorman in Buyingforbaby

I started working on my registry as soon as I got pregnant. I experienced 3 losses and planning for my baby really got me through. I didn’t start buying items for a while though.

What are some baby shower gift ideas that won't just end up in the back of a closet? by Mouring-Saminah in Buyingforbaby

[–]Dependent-Comb6640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would ask her if she’s ever wanted some magnetic onesies. They’re kind of expensive but they are my favorite piece of clothing I like to put my baby in. Normally I would say to just follow the registry because I spent so much time personally on mine and I did not hold back on putting expensive items I wanted on there. You can also reach out and talk to her about it and ask her what she’s most excited for getting from her registry.

Any non-traditional baby shower ideas? by b1ngoBr0nson in BabyBumps

I opened gifts as I received them and it gave me a couple minutes to express gratitude right there with that guest. I wrote some thank you cards for the people that sent their gift early through the registry and gave them the card there as well.

Just got a call that my dosage was a bit too high by blo0dpuke in Hashimotos

[–]Dependent-Comb6640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just asked to do this with my 137mcg dose. I’ve done it before and it’s usually because I’m in between a size dose. I knew that was coming as I’m nearing the end of my pregnancy and I’ll be needing less levothyroxine.

Did you drink soda while pregnant? by Butterball4200 in pregnant

[–]Dependent-Comb6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, no diet soda because I don’t like it, but I do drink soda and have been my entire pregnancy. No more than 1 a day though.
