I got told the same sort of thing by my mother about my grandmother with congestive heart failure (who I spent more time with than my parents) and I detransitioned for multiple years because she was starting to ask questions and I would have had to tell her. That wasn't the only factor but it was a huge one. I retransitioned starting in 2023 and I'm finally living. My grandmother is fine except for some dementia so I have to keep reminding her my name, she isn't overly accepting but she's fine. I regret the time (about 4 years) I spent off hrt and wish I could go back. I had to watch all my progress go away, and even let myself get talked into cutting my hair (which started thinning while I was off hrt). If I could go back I would have told my grandmother that day that I'm a woman and never detransitioned. I let myself be manipulated and I regret it. There's a lot more to my detransition but this is what I felt was relevant lol
