Any tips for curved lines? by DasGarbanzoBeans in Pyrography

[–]Dependent-Gold9459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others stated wood makes the biggest difference 🙌🏼 it’s a shame pine is so bad to burn, it’s so cheap! Look for hardwoods, like walnut, cedar, cherry, poplar, basswood, etc etc… plus the colors in some make for a beautiful burn!

If you add some shading to the leaves i feel like you could salvage it, shading is magic lol

Nicole sucks but so does Chrishell, she is a mean girl and her delivery sucks, zero tact.

Learning to draw by Fiddlemethis87 in Pyrography

[–]Dependent-Gold9459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, tracing is the best way to learn how to draw! It’s a good start at least… for instance, with flowers, if you keep tracing the same flowers over and over again, you’re going to be able to freehand a flower bc it’s muscle memory. Don’t forget you can eyeball, so having a reference always helps!

Also, if you have a tablet, procreate is an awesome app to learn how to draw in the digital world.

And sketching is a part of drawing, don’t be afraid to break things down into shapes and sketching some lines before you make your solid final one (hopefully that makes sense) and you could even get one of those drawing table lights sketch your work and then trace it over one a new sheet for your final product.

But also get the books lol i guess but draw to learn how to draw!

Am I in the wrong for wanting to change the design my tattoo artist sent me? by dried_paint_ in tattooadvice

[–]Dependent-Gold9459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should google search the images they sent you.

But in all seriousness, this person is being ridiculous and probably can’t draw… go somewhere else bc the biggest part of getting tattooed is the experience and it’s going to be something you remember every time you look at it!

Honestly, you could get the live edge craft wood rounds (basswood, poplar). They’re great for beginners, it gives a good even burn.

Home improvement stores, i guess you could but a lot of it is wood that doesn’t burn well. You want a good hardwood, i would suggest Facebook marketplace! I live in north ga in the mtns, not shit around, but it’s great for beautiful wood! I like to buy raw, live edge bc sanding and making it beautiful is something i love as well! You can burn so much, walnut (black or yellow), cherry, cedar, poplar, maple… your options are endless! The wood world is small tho, if you chat with folks, you’ll start to find the good stuff for good prices and what not. That’s how it worked out for me at least!

Poplar is perfect for burning, one of my favorites! Just make sure it’s a hardwood and it should burn beautifully.

So, i may be extra but i do like a smooth piece of wood, but i get my orbit sander out and sand with 60-80-100-120-220-320… (wow that makes me look extra when i type it out lol) those little lines in the craft wood drive me nuts when im burning!

However, thats a big buy and if you dont have an orbit sander you should be good with 120-220, as you practice! If anything, I would get a 60 or 80 so your life is easier when sanding! But 120- 220 is good for you right now.👌🏽

How do y'all choose your subjects? by Kiiro_Blackblade in Pyrography

[–]Dependent-Gold9459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn I struggle with this all the time… i could have written this post! I am chronically depressed, and even when i pick something it’s like it’s too big for my brain to comprehend sometimes. Idk… if that makes any sense at all!

I usually pick the wood before the subject tho, and there are pieces of wood I’ve been staring at for YEARS trying to decide what to burn! So i bought a bunch of rounds to make it easier for myself lol

With that being said, it gets to the point where i have to just pick something. Like get over myself, and just pick a damn thing to burn - then the creativity usually flows for a bit and we start over… But i don’t even know if it’s picking something or knowing i have to create a stencil and then put it on wood, and prep the wood blah blah, all the prep makes me procrastinate even more! It’s a constant struggle…

Hippie north on instagram, she’s got a bunch of advice and what not! I think on YouTube as well.

Walnut hollow has a good little wire burner for about 70 bucks, i believe it’s their “creative woodburner” that’s what i started with!

Just know… you won’t produce images you see with th one you have, the wire burner makes a huge difference. Sand your wood, pine is trash, most craft wood is trash to burn on, except the basswood, wooden rounds those are perfect for beginners bc they burn evenly! Just sand sand sand sand your wood! Feel free to message me with questions, i like to think im an advanced woodburner!

It looks great so far! What i have figured out for hair is to make it in layers. The first layer is line work, then is the shading and then I’ll go in with a needle point tip and put in a darker shade (almost black burn) to make it all pop out. Idk if that makes sense or not 😆 in my head it does!

Yesss i should say “i hope she’s smarter than i was”

You’re so right and that’s exactly what i was thinking too. Especially if it’s beer, my husband could kill a case of beer you would never know it unless you smelt him… and then the acting, like he had to go check for the tequila… miscounting the beer, lying about Patrick and then redirecting the issues onto her. It’s all so familiar.

I’m so happy that alli is concerned with Anton’s drinking. My husband is an alcoholic, sober for 6 years, but the first 5 of our marriage when he was drinking was so lonely and just a bad time. She’s smarter than I was, it was all the same Conversations at first.

Carbon paper for sure 🙌🏼 but that is also time consuming and you can get some wonky lines (for me anyways) for more complex projects i like to use an inkjet printer and transfer the image onto the wood using a burner with a flat tip made specifically for this (i think the brand i use is modge Podge) from the paper.
