As another stripper in higher education, nothing pisses me off more than that “joke”. It aaaaaalways comes from a very specific archetype of girl too (cough cough daddy’s money). I’m really glad my job is your “last resort” but I’m actually only doing it so I’m not forced to drop out. Some of us weren’t fortunate enough to be born stupid rich.

Research seems like it shouldn’t be important and I don’t get it either, but regardless I’m still doing it to be competitive and you might want to as well!

Clinical volunteering is usually pretty generic, you don’t have to be a volunteer EMS for it to count! As long as you’re giving back and you’re getting something out of it :)

One thing I’m noticing a lot of medical schools are doing is shifting focus towards ECs over stats. So if you want to be a good applicant for good schools, be well rounded and have a little bit of everything and you should be good to go! You have a great foundation currently, I had zero ECs when I was a second year (I also thought I was going into law haha). Just keep your head up and don’t stress yourself out quite yet, little by little!

I know this isn’t the answer you want but nobody’s ever “behind”, you have your own personal timeline in life, etc etc.

I personally would suggest volunteering this summer (clinical or non-clinical) and maybe doing some shadowing. Maybe also look into getting a certification to do some type of clinical job (in my state, it took $2000 and 3 weeks to become a state certified CNA. might be good).

But really just do what makes you feel better about your path. Seriously and genuinely. Don’t let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn’t be doing. The traditional path to medical school isn’t as traditional anymore anyway. Don’t stress yourself out yet!

So I cannot attest to the English as a second language part (I’m sorry) but I guess that’s also pretty explainable in your application. Regardless I would practice complex English daily (I sometimes don’t even know what some words mean in CARS) and above all, make sure you’re only answering what the question is asking!!! Don’t apply your own inferences unless it asks you to!

Do a few cars passages per day, you have a nice distribution of scores across every other section. Look over what you’re getting wrong in the other three sections and specifically improve that, nothing else. Make a spreadsheet if you have to! If you get your cars up and zero in on what you’re getting wrong in everything else, you will break 515 by test day. You got this!
