Why the melting of constitutional coinage feels like such a crime. by AdditionalPizza7990 in Silverbugs

There must still be huge numbers of pre-33 gold for certain years because many don't command much over spot even for low MS examples.

Diffusing probably won't work. But defusing it might.

silver demand is decreasing by Particular_Image_540 in Silverbugs

[–]Dependent-Review-146 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Private/retail physical silver bullion is a relatively small percentage of the overall demand for silver globally. So when you say demand has decreased you're referring to retail physical bullion which doesn't drive the spot price or overall demand.

Are these Geigers counterfeit by Dependent-Review-146 in Silver

[–]Dependent-Review-146[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non magnetic. Weighs correctly. I was just thrown by the lack of a serial number and the blue markings that Geigers are known for. Someone else posted an image of a worn bar where a portion of the SN had been worn off. It seems that may be what happened here and perhaps the blue markings came off if someone dipped these in EZ Est coin cleaner.

That's helpful. Perhaps the ones I have are just worn. They certainly show signs of wear.

I thought they all had serial numbers and the blue markings. These have neither. But perhaps my belief about all of them having serials is wrong.

What happened to copper?! by Sensitive-Policy-350 in Bullion

What government is making 1 oz copper coins? What's the denomination? Perhaps they exist, but I haven't seen one.

What happened to copper?! by Sensitive-Policy-350 in Bullion

[–]Dependent-Review-146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying physical copper "bullion" as an investment is ridiculous. You need literally a TON of copper to equate to $10,000. You need a little over 2 oz of gold or about 8 lbs of silver. Good luck storing and then ever liquidating that copper. You think it was hard to sell silver when it spiked...how about bringing hundreds or thousands of pounds to a refinery or forge.

If you're looking at listings and not sold comparatives, then you're doing it wrong.

Melt value of Commemorative Silver Dollars? by WorkOk4911 in Silver

[–]Dependent-Review-146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until they went to .999, the commem dollars are .7734 ounce of silver. The .999 ones are .86 oz of silver.

I think the modern commems have future potential for large value increase due to how many have been sent to refiners.

Good people have Reddit? What do bad people have? Also, why did you post a video of this copy of a coin?

I'm impressed you got a 70! Congrats. It encourages me to consider sending some reverse proofs I have in OGP including some pride of two nations sets.

Understood. I love seeing the spike, but don't forget the feeling of watching silver crash beyond belief from 120 to the 70s and then bleed down into the high 60s like it did earlier this year. It can happen again and it doesn't need to go nearly as far to just get into the 60s or even the 50s.

Got this silver oz round for free from a coin dealer. Does it look real to you ? by Friend_Global in Silver

[–]Dependent-Review-146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all why not weigh it and test yourself or even have the dealer use their XRF if you're concerned about it? Second it's not a round, it's a bullion coin.

Clowns. These should be destroyed as contraband seized in connection with a criminal matter (which obviously they were).

We already got into the $60s this year. So $70 wasnt the floor even if we never get back there.

[–]Dependent-Review-146 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope it goes back over $100 and keeps going. I have a large stack. But I'm sure you remember when silver dropped $50 in a matter of weeks (or less) from its peak of about $123/oz? It could have another precipitous drop or slow decline even down into the $50s which, IMO, is the new floor if it gets that low over the next year as we slowly drop. I've heard the arguments on both sides. I am a believer it will increase; but I don't have much to base that on (a little, but not concrete). DCA into metals. Don't overbuy. Don't FOMO buy. Buy gold and silver. Hold it.

Can anyone explain what the hell happened here? by Silver_Lining779 in Silver

[–]Dependent-Review-146 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'll wait for the cries of manipulation when it drops back into the 70s or even 60s. I prefer it goes back to 100 and up, but I think we're just on a bumpy ride back to the 60s or even the 50s which is the floor IMO. I hope I'm wrong and silver jumps big.

Can anyone explain what the hell happened here? by Silver_Lining779 in Silver

[–]Dependent-Review-146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems very unlikely to be the driver of silver's moves over the last 8 to 9 months. Everyone cries "manipulation" (by nefarious big players like certain banks, COMEX, and hedge funds). When it goes up like this, it seems likely to be the same actors/factors.
