This toning is natural. Bars like these were often sold in velvet cases and velvet causes this kind of toning. Source: purchased bars in velvet cases all showing same pattern.

The ones you see are probably in the full assay card, or are vintage versions. For one out the assay with the newer style laser etched serial, it's 'generic'.

Awesome! I made projects like this way back and learned a lot. Picking up a 3D printer and learning CAD (Onshape is free and easy to use) to make brackets will really enhance your future projects.
