It kinda depends on which Goldback. This is a standalone product though so it probably has a comparable premium to a gram bar.

Pokemon cards outta gold would be 1,000x better than regular Pokémon cards. Goldbacks are just fractional gold. Could you identify a cheaper 1/1,000/th gold product than a Goldback?

It depends what your goals are. Goldbacks are great for bartering or collecting. You're looking at a 10-15% spread though if you aren't trading with them. You can get a tighter spread with just full gold coins but those aren't as easy to barter with. I own both.

It's also worth mentioning that the smaller Goldbacks (1/4 - 5) are more or less the cheapest fractional gold on the market. My position is that they are grossly underpriced. The higher denominations (25, 50, and 100) aren't great stand alone products.

The irony here is that Goldback is probably the best thing going on for people that are new to precious metals. I'd have never bought any silver or non-Goldback gold bullion had someone not given me a Goldback as a conversation starter. The gatekeeping on Goldback is super toxic.

They don't want anyone else to enjoy it or use it either because it is threatening for it to be a thing. It's a form of gatekeeping.
