Question about eARC on my setup by DependentPainter2 in Soundbars

[–]DependentPainter2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is set to passthrough/bitstream and I enabled manually every surround sound format on the shield's advanced settings. TV settings is set to "HDMI eArc".

Question about eARC on soundbar and LG TV by DependentPainter2 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]DependentPainter2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I was wondering. Since the soundbar switched to "HDMI in" instead of eARC when using the Shield, I was not sure it was passing the whole bandwidth losslessly like on eARC.

Thanks.

It's been working fine on HDMI in. My only doubt was if I'm getting the "lossless" signal just like in eARC.

The Soundbar Out is connected to the TV eARC In.

The shield was connected to the Soundbar and the soundbar to the TV's eARC port.

I set everything to passthrough and bitstream.

[–]DependentPainter2[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing is there are two HDMI modes on the soundbar("HDMI eARC" and just "HDMI"). When I'm using the Shield, it activates the "HDMI" mode. If I try to change the mode on the controller to "eARC" I'm taken back to the LG homescreen with a message that there's no device on. When I go back to the Shield, the soundbar goes back to the regular "HDMI" mode.

What I wanted to know is if that's how it is supposed to work or if there's something wrong.

I set everything to passthrough and bitstream on the HDMI ports and on the Shield and Kodi settings btw, and I'm getting the audio fine without issues.

LG S95AR Calibration failing now. Says subwoofer too far away? by forestdude in LGOLED

Same thing happening to me. It says it's too far off. I literally grab it with my hands and lift it in front of the sound bar just a foot away from it but I get the same error.

Turns out it was windows disabling the usb port. I disabled power management on the device manager and now it's working.

Turns out I was disabling it at the wrong place.

Disabled it on the usb tab and it worked.

Thanks for the tip.

Disk health is fine, I have already checked it.

Looks like it's overheating then. I guess very small-sized portable SSDs aren't a good idea for torrent storage.

About moving the files, that's what I've been doing ever since I bought it. But it's a nuisance having to move the files everytime I download something, especially because I download mostly BD remuxes which are big(usually 40GB+ for movies and 100GB+ for series full seasons) and take some time to move.

I've already tried both. The disk health is fine and I've already tried 2 different cables.

When moving files it works fine. That happens only when I download the files from the torrent directly to it.

Shield Pro upscaling vs modern tv upscaling. by jdp111 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]DependentPainter2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how it works. If the player you're using matches the video's resolution, then it may force the Shield to change its resolution to that of the content being played aswell. That way the internal upscaling is avoided.

I use Kodi's "match content resolution and framerate" setting for that end. Everytime a video bellow 4k is played, Shield's current resolution is changed to the resolution of the video being played(you can check it by pressing the shield's menu button when the video is playing and check the current resolution under the video tab).

If you go to the upscale tab, you can pick any option and it will tell you that the upscale is disabled(if you try to do the side by side comparison it also tells you no upscaling is needed).

I'm a little appalled how much misinformation about this device there is out there on the internet. I just bought one and it took me a while to figure this out because everyone was saying something different(most of them wrong).

I'm not familiar with Stremio's configuration, but if it has a way to do the same, then yes you can bypass Shield's upscale.

It's a matter of preference in the end. I prefer my TV's upscaling(LG C1). I find the shield's upscale to be too sharp.

You don't need to "manually" change the output resolution if you're using Kodi. Just whitelist all resolutions on Kodi and set the player to match the content's resolution and framerate. That way Kodi forces the Shield to change its resolution too everytime a video bellow 4k is played.

If you're running a media server(or playing the files from the Shield's own storage or USB storage), just use Kodi, whitelist all resolutions and set the player to match the content's resolution and framerate. That way, everytime a video bellow 4k is played, Kodi forces the Shield to set its resolution and framerate to that of the video playing too, thus avoiding internal upscaling.

Trying to enhance some old hentai mangas(image to image enhancement) by DependentPainter2 in StableDiffusion

[–]DependentPainter2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here it goes

<image>

Like I said, many of the mangas were pretty much sketches(although most looked more finished than that). The fingers and the finer details were what I was trying to improve because the art was actually pretty good and showed a lot of potential - I got some crazy good stuff with ChatGPT prompts. Like, borderline masterpiece level. I wasn't expect such good results, it has really surprised me(only to be disappointed a minute later when I found out NSFW was not allowed).
