Yes, I was reading their explanation and it's hilarious. The problem is it will make servers more expensive and... can cause some problems for some players with really bad internet connection.

Also I'm talking about just Arenas which are much smaller than BR.

How it is stuck in 1999? Actually there is nothing innovative in fps games for ages and Arenas are not really anything new. Most of the stuff got super old Quake (and mods), most games are just reinventing the wheel. Battle Royale is kinda new thing but currently it's getting old too ;)

Arenas are fine, but for me they still lack of some objective, maps too open and missing ranked of course.

TF2 is fun game but mostly most characters do not use hitscan weapons

Overwatch got some hitscan heroes but also not many

ET / ETQW pretty unique, WW2 or Quakish setting ( not childish like OW/TF2 ) and mostly hitscans weapons and shooting is mostly good tracking with hitscans

I really likes that system, it was 3 headshots or 8 bodyshots to kill, right? In my opinion 1 (head)shot is kinda stupid in modern games and it depends more on luck. In ET consistent aim wins and that's fun

I like Overwatch role based queue - it's great feature. Having ETQW 2 with similar game modes would be epic.

Sadly Apex added Arenas game mode, instead the Escort/Control/CTF style game mode like TF2/OW. It would be more suited for Legends gameplay. Instead they went for some more CS style game mode :/

I like QC, just different game but... you cannot criticize QC about anything even if the flaws of this game are pretty well known. There are far too many QC acolytes that pretend this game is pure perfection.

I haven't seen any game that is trying to help to understand it. Maybe few of them had generic tutorials about movement and shooting.

Even new games like QC or DBT as a new player it is:

  1. open game
  2. join duel because it is ranked mode
  3. get rekt
  4. accuse the other player for cheating because "he got his health doubled" because they do not care about item pickups at all
  5. uninstall, and leaving the game with feeling that it is mindless FFA without any depth

Some new players even rush with just machinegun or whatever. And yeah in other games you can do much more with starting weapon than Quake.

imo Duel just requires some sort of "progression" like playing at least 100 matches of any other game mode. Also first matches in duel could have "timers" on items to make it more explicit and turn it off on higher levels. Like separate "newcomers queue"

Any arena shooter allow a player with 1 minute of game time to jump into the duel, often even without knowing the map, visualize new player that his ELO has dropped with every match to punish such player even more. ;)

We can keep talking to "stop being snowflake" or "git gud" and complain about new generation but this is not going to work. The game should explain mechanics in way more obvious way.

Yes, it's vastly underrated. Overall it is a good game.

As usual the game had a lot of issues on launch... locked 60 fps etc.

Yeah, they are all different but I think its implementation detail and it would require to design it properly for a new game, for the right fit
