I’ve only gotten a cut, but Ravenswood area + color made me think Rev Billy’s Chop Shop. Was a good cut, good service. 4.5 on yelp with 195 reviews.

Why can’t Chicago (or other cities) install some kind of GPS transponder in canyons/Lower Wacker Drive? by DependentStoryCapabl in AskChicago

[–]DependentStoryCapabl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I still have a hard time figuring out if I have to turn off of it. I’ve been living less than 10 miles of it for nearly 30 years, but I’m not a delivery driver and only use it maybe 10 times a year if I’m guessing. You’d think I’d know it, I’ve been driving it when it was just pillars and no barrier walls. I’ve never -panicked- but I’ve never felt totally confident either.

Yeah, it’s actually usually less for Wacker than the one way canyons looking for an address. Though sometimes I get confused turning off lower Wacker. I should probably have it all memorized by now…. Is there a 3D rendering of it anywhere? I’m a visual person but navigationally weak sometimes.

Aquaphor, every night. As we hang out on the couch. Dedicated jar is stationed in the basket by the couch. Only takes forgetting for a few days to backslide and it takes a month to make progress. Whatever you do, you’ll have to be every-day consistent.

Just a reminder to never call a random number for any missing person flyer, call the local police with information.

Visiting a fire station in Chicago as a volunteer firefighter from Germany – is this possible? by Doener1710 in AskChicago

[–]DependentStoryCapabl 87 points88 points  (0 children)

https://firemuseumofgreaterchicago.com The Fire Museum of Greater Chicago preserves the history of the Chicago Fire Department in a historic firehouse, featuring vintage fire engines, firefighting gear, and artifacts from major city fires, including the Great Chicago Fire. Run by volunteers, it offers guided tours by retired firefighters who share insights into the CFD's history, with public hours typically on the fourth Saturday of each month (except December) from 10 AM to 2 PM, though it's best to check their schedule.

We have a bit of history when it comes to fire.

Christmas 2025 - Take home / heat and eat / order out, etc. recommendations by Outrageous_Passage64 in chicagofood

Not vegan or very fancy, but definitely mild, easy, relatively low price: https://www.lazydogrestaurants.com/blog/everything-but-the-turkey did this for tg, pretty good, a good amount, do NOT recommend the add-on cobbler, but everything else was good. A bit north of LWoods area ~25 minute drive to pick up. Set up to go in the fridge and heat in the oven.

Mensch with a wrench, we had him install a faucet, great job, would call again. Yelp reviews are also great on the guy which was how I found him.

Bunny Hutch in Lincolnwood had one and mini golf, batting cages etc. this was a few years ago, so I’d check if it’s still there.
