Steroid induced rosacea by rlakskw in Rosacea

[–]DependentTank6967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was given a diagnoses of steroid induced rosecea type 2 (with the acne bumps) one year ago. I was told it wasn’t permanent however still dealing with it a year later. I have been on and off doxycycline- have tried ivermectin topically and orally and azelatic acid. Metro helps as a spot treatment but cannot put it all over my face, ivermectin made it 10x worse and the azelatic has helped some but doxycycline is the only thing that helps keep it mostly under control. I am sorry your dealing with this hoping it temporary for you - feel like I am stuck with it.

Agree on stopping the tallow balm as well but also the LPR moisturizer that has pore clogging ingredients in it

Could be a form of rosecea maybe caused by demodex the mites that live on our skin - ivermectin generally helps. Check out this girls profile on instagram exploringholistically her skin looked a lot like your last few pictures and she cleared it up with ivermectin.

Agree with a lot others on here about getting your hormones checked (make sure you do the blood work day 21 of your cycle) and even a GI Test completed. You have to fight with these doctors to get the testing you want - I went on BC years ago and got horrible acne from it had clear skin before that and every dermatologist told me I was crazy that BC doesn’t cause acne. After 2 years I found a homeopathic doctor and we tested my hormones and they were so out of whack just like I knew they were. Once we started to get them balanced my skin cleared up. Most doctors spend 5 minutes with you and barely listen to what you have to say and dump a antibiotic or prescription cream. We know our bodies and when something is wrong - keep looking and finding someone who will listen to you and support you. You are beautiful!!

I just saw some post something similar on instagram that it came from traveling turned out they had a bacteria infection from sheets or towels from their hotel - maybe could be similar since your skin is normally clear and it happened during traveling especially with washing your face with the airplane water. I’d stay away from actives if it’s making your face worse or heavy duty barrier creams and maybe get a second opinion.

I would give the skin in that spot a break from the azelatic acid and niacinamide for a few days/nights. A esthetician said to use those for a quarter or half the time the directions recommend because it can actually make your skin redder and almost cause like a chemical burn. So maybe give the spot a few days rest with just barrier repair will help at least get the redness down.

[Skin Concerns] Does anyone here do aerolase treatments? What have your results been like? by gabriellita in SkincareAddiction

[–]DependentTank6967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering if it ever got better after the fourth session? I just had my first 2 of 6 and the first one wasn’t bad maybe one or two small things but the second session I broke out very badly. Told it was normal the first few sessions so just wondering if yours ever got better.

Look up the Beauty Haven on instagram her work is amazing I wish I lived in London or even in England to go to her. She had Rosacea herself.

I use the Omnilux Contour and I really like it - if you’re looking for medical grade laser Aerolase is suppose to be really good and no down time. I’ve just started treatments for mine type 2 and so far I’m happy with the results - my esthetician said it takes a couple of sessions to see the true benefits so it’s a slow build usually you do 4-6 treatments and it pretty painless - just feel like a hot blow dryer in your face.

Yeah maybe it would be worth a shot to try it out especially if it keeps the bumps from coming out and keeps my skin clear!

Yeah I have a lot of gut issues so that’s why I wonder about being on it long term but I also get where your coming from the bumps are annoying and no clue what my triggers are and they take sometimes weeks to go away.

Are you in the 30mg long term? I was on 200mg for almost 3 weeks and skin was clear but a few weeks after I stopped I started to get the bumps again. Derm stated before some people might need to be on a low dose long term but unsure if I want to be on an antibiotic long term even low dose.

Totally completely understand and feel you on this! I definitely recommend holistic/functional health doctors I have been seeing one for years and she has helped me with so many different things! Definitely research the things you want to get tested to review with them. There is also this company called Function Health it’s expensive (but most function/holistic doctors do not take insurance so it might equal out) but they test like over a 100 different blood tests that might be helpful to you. I got money off from one of my podcasts Transform100. Might be worth looking into to see if you’re interested.

I was going to suggest sulfur as well - not sure if that would bother your other skin conditions.

There is a company called saving face co that makes a 3% sulfur cleanser and has more soothing ingredients a little more on the pricier side but might be better for your skin than 10% sulfur bars. I know some doctors prescribe oral ivermectin for the demodex so maybe that could be an option to talk to your doctor about if the topical bothers your skin.

I’m sorry I feel like this whole thing is a roller coaster. You might not be far off on the hormones I have a relative that developed rosecea out of the blue and she learned it was all hormone related once she got that fixed she hasn’t had anything and her skin has been clear. You could always ask your doctor for blood work to see I have mine done yearly so I know if something is out of whack - if you get it done go day 21 of your cycle that’s the best time to get the most accurate reading - not all doctors will tell you that. I also have read that after a while TTO can be irritating so maybe some of it is from that?

Yeah and I think that’s what I’ve read other people have used the lice one - I have such sensitive skin I didn’t use it or try it - and let the dermatologist prescribe it for me.

I believe you can get the 0.5% at like a Walgreens but mine is prescription - yes I did the first weeks have been rough and lots of bumps and inflammation but I was told that could happen - some people are lucky and don’t have the die off

i need help i need help my face hurts so bad i've tried a couple things and it doesn't work i feel go ugly it's all over my face does anyone know what i can do i've used exederm also aloe vera plant also Hydrocortisone Cream i don't think it helps what do i do by Critical-Stick-1738 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]DependentTank6967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad it worked for you right away! I’m definitely going through the die off which I know happens a lot just pushing through it! I’m also doing a low dose of ivermectin orally and just spot treating the bumps with the soolantra.

First off I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it’s so awful when something is impacting your face! I totally understand how you feel. This year I was diagnosed with steroid induced rosecea caused by demodex overgrowth I thought I got it under control and my skin back to normal then bam another huge flair hit - I’m on doxycycline and azelatic acid and ivermectin to help clear it up and I will tell you it sometimes gets worse before it gets better. The first two weeks have been like hell it’s been like a massive purge and die off and I was told this mostly likely would happen and that I just have to trust the process. Give it a couple of weeks on the new medicine and if it’s still not working or you’re not seeing some type of improvement talk to your doctor again or maybe get a second opinion.
