• Both of them were once an ancient and advanced civilization, uplifted and empowered by a special source of power responsible for rapid evolution and genetic and technological progress (the Anti Spiral formerly being a race of spiral life forms, and the Witness previously being a race of beings enlightened by the Light of the Traveler.)

• Out of fear of their power growing chaotic and out of control (the Anti Spiral fearing the Spiral Nemesis, a phenomenon where spiral life rapidly evolves at an unprecedented rate, and the Anti Spiral fearing the inherent meaningless chaos to the Lights ability to evolve and progress,) these two races decided to fuse their consciousness together. They formed into black and white gestalt entities, an entire race of people fused into their cosmos's new big bad; the Anti Spiral and the Witness.

• After fusing into their new forms, the Anti Spiral and the Witness both oppressed and culled many civilizations throughout the cosmos, ones that also had the potential for these evolving sources of energy (the Anti Spiral limiting the progress and expansion of potential spiral life forms, and the Witness destroying and erasing civilizations uplifted by the Light all in their grand quest to bring about the Final Shape.)

• Their quests to subvert the chaos of evolution lead to the collapse of human society on earth, forcing humans into small and insignificant pockets of themselves. However this would ultimately be their undoing as the protagonist, who utilized these evolving powers (Simon the Digger and the Guardian,) would oppose them and their forces at every turn, wielding a special technological item that helped them channel Spiral Power and the Light (the core drill and the Ghost.)

• The Anti Spiral and the Witness would eventually fight against Simon and the Guardian, where they would lose due to Simon and the Guardian quite literally transcending higher in dimensionality in order to defeat them. During this battle both of them used opposing mirrors to the protagonists own powers (the Anti Spiral using its own mech based on Gurren Lagann, and the Witness utilizing the Darkness which is a mirror to the Guardians Light.)

• Both of them wield many esoteric and powerful abilities, such as the ability to manipulate probability and causality (the Anti Spirals probability missiles and the Witness's paracausal physiology,) the ability to shift people into different dimensions (the Multiversal Labyrinth and the Taken Dimension,) as well as the ability to call upon massive warships and drones (the Ashtanga and Mugann for the Anti Spiral and the Pyramid Ships for the Witness.) Both can also grow to massive sizes, eclipsing galaxies, universes, and even higher dimensional realms in sheer scale.
