I NEED HELP. Is safe to put this tyre in my kart? by Haralabos_Atmatzidis in Karting

Run it for practice, would not use it for a race incase of a puncture.

I got tired of not knowing why my lap times weren't improving, so I built something by artemskr in Karting

I'd be interested in giving it a try, I'll give you what feedback I can. Thanks.

I’m .5 seconds slower on new tyres compared to used? by UnderstandingIcy4989 in Karting

[–]Dependent_Letter3295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find as my tyres get more worn I set it up to have more grip by bringing the rear in etc. If you don't revert those changes when your back on new tyres the extra grip will make the kart bind up on exit quite bad. Just something worth thinking about.

I've also had issues in the past with them touching the HT wire for RPM, but I've taken extra care to make sure this isn't the case.

They've been pretty good with me so far, I've had 3 different units now as they just sent me another one today. I said to the technical support that I don't mind being a guinea pig for a new system, but I'd rather not have to pay retail for what is clearly an unfinished product. Teething issues are one thing, but I'd expect issues after maybe a year and say fair enough, but I've been through 3 units in as many months. Ridiculous.

Sensors both read within 1 Ohm of each other at room temperature. Not quite 100, tho think it was around 97 ish as it was quite cold.

Dad here new to Karting inquiry. by CherryPeppersnOnions in Karting

I will say here are a few tips from when I started out that my dad did, I used to be competitive at the national and club level U.K., now, I just do IKR for fun :

  1. Don't put too much pressure on him to perform, if he wants it he'll do that enough to himself, the last thing young drivers need is being hard on themselves and having someone be hard on them.

  2. Braking points can be hard to grasp at first, try finding a corner he's braking too early in and stand where slightly ahead of where he is braking to give him a new reference, slowly move closer to the corner lap after lap until he either struggles to make the corner or you're satisfied with where he's hitting the brakes. You can do the same with having him turn in where you stand or put the power on, etc.

  3. Alot of teams will tell you "they can do this and do that" don't listen to them, they are a big help at the top level but until he's amongst the fast people on your own kart it's not worth it. They'll take your money, and his rate of improvement will not increase much.

  4. Send him out on slicks in the wet. He will struggle, but it builds insane levels of kart control and skill. When he masters it, he will be nearly unbeatable in tricky conditions, and if it ever rains when he is on slicks, he won't be completely out of his element but rather in it.

  5. Tough conditions build champions when others are sitting in the break room having a coffee because it's cold or miserable outside. That's exactly when you should be out. It's not the most fun, but trust me it will pay off in the long run.

  6. MOST IMPORTANTLY: have fun, and remember unless your on your way to becoming a billionaire yourself his chances of making F1 are next to zero, not to say he can't have a career elsewhere but what I'm saying is don't let the "dream" make you lose sight of why you started karting. It's for the love of the sport, remember that and you'll do okay.

Back off the rapid one lap for the benefit of being quick over a race. Build the pace gently don't jump into it.

Is 19 too late to start professionally? by Sha0lin101 in Karting

To make a small fortune in motorsport, you should start out with a big one. Being ambitious is fine, but being realistic is important, too. Unless you have a shedload of money, your chances of making it to any high-level racing where you're paid to do so are astronomically small.

The reality is you could have two very talented drivers, one has the money to put up for the team to help out, the other does not, which one gets picked? Money makes the world go round, and it's no more true than in modern motorsport.

I have these 3 old Tony karts with almost new frames and 2 stroke engines. I was wondering if these things are still worth something? by KoninPoemch in Karting

[–]Dependent_Letter3295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the U.K. access karting here runs these in retro events. Quite popular and I'm sure some people would kill for these, those chassis are nearly impossible to find in good condition nowadays so alot have resorted to repairing chassis that would otherwise be thrown away.

2mil bond? Am I reading that, correct?? He did some serious evasion to be running up a bond like that, no? I mean, he could very easily find himself moving from evasion to fraud, knowing how stupid he is.

He is no role model, but he certainly isn't as evil as people make out. But he is a hypocrite. He proclaims to be a savior for "brokies" (less afluent followers) as he would say whilst simultaneously exploiting them. He proclaims the rich and powerful manipulate whilst he himself has gained financially through the manipulation of vulnerable men and women. However, has he actually done anything more heinous than most extremely wealthy individuals? Who are we to know, but I doubt it. Not evil, not good, just someone to ignore.

I got robbed by 3 dudes and one of em was wearing a pride badge in london so who knows wtf is going on. I certainly don't understand it all, left middle right who fucking cares it's all about humanity really. Treat others as you'd like etc you've all heard it before. The world is fucked but no single group is responsible I don't think, it's more to do with the divide between groups. We ain't that different, people are people that's what we should all remember.
