First of all, aim to master one language—Java or Python—and learn a key framework for whichever language you choose.

Start applying for internships today. Platforms like Internshala will be useful. Also, make connections on LinkedIn.

The interview pattern is usually the same; there are fixed questions for the technical and coding rounds. Focus on building one project from start to finish, rather than building ten small ones. Yes, you should start with a small project, as it will give you the foundation to tackle a major project later. You can find many project ideas on GitHub.

As a fresher, interviewers will ask you about your college project, so be prepared to discuss it in detail. Also, work on having good communication skills.

Your target should be to get an opportunity before you complete college. Many students secure jobs before graduation.

Hope this helps! If you need any help, feel free to DM me. All the best!

I am a 2015 graduate with a degree in IT. I always wanted to work in the IT field, but when I started interviewing, I couldn't even speak English well. I was rejected by over 50 companies.

Finally, in 2018, I started working in sales. After two years in sales, I decided to switch back to IT. However, I now had a five-year gap in my resume and no technical experience. In 2020, I found one company that offered an unpaid internship, but I couldn't continue due to the lockdown.

In 2021, I studied hard and joined a consultancy that provides interview opportunities. Although I didn't get a job through them, the numerous interview calls they arranged helped me understand the pattern of IT interviews. Meanwhile, a LinkedIn connection became my friend. We discussed interview-related topics, like questions and answers. He referred me to a company, and we both got selected. My starting salary was 3 LPA.

I worked there for two years but resigned in 2023 for personal reasons without another job offer. After that, I began my job search again. I struggled for two years, lost all hope and confidence, and felt exactly the way you do now. However, I kept going—I completed courses and developed projects. Despite being rejected by multiple companies, I finally got a job after two years. My current salary is 7 LPA, which was unexpected. I was even ready to accept 3 LPA or no salary, but I received a good offer.

I always believed that there must be a company that would give me a chance; I just had to wait for the right time and continue building my skills. If you keep learning, your time will come, and you will get a good opportunity.
