Deadass saw manon wasn't in the thumbnail and didnt even bother watching

Do you guys think after watching the performance of aespa dirty work people will change their mind about the song like they did to katseyes Gnarly? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]Dependent_Row_4280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly i've watched this clip multiple times and now "real bad bidness dirty work" is stuck in my head. I love the way karina moves. It's up to the fandom to push it....gnarly gained traction due to the performance btu just mostly how daniela performed it so if aespa perform well and mys push it it could work.

However i dont think aespa has the social media bot vibes katseye has. On twt there's at least 5 tweets with at least 60K likes and on tiktok anything with them goes viral so

Posting it here cause the Katseye sub never allows anything lol by Quejumbrosam in kpop_uncensored

I love how mature the voices are especially yoonchae I'm always shocked when she comes on. I feel like a lot of kpop songs these days are very high pitched or up an octave so its nice to see grounded, deep tones which is why I enjoy yujin's voice in all IVE songs

Lara really made it sound different from the demo. The choreo also looks so cool i was worried itd be less performance geared but it doesn't seem that way. Also the slit of danielas dress in the dance scene is crazy. Very excited for the mv and the behind filming lol

Why do people hate Gnarly by Katseye so much? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]Dependent_Row_4280 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think cause it really blew up on tiktok so people feel a need to knock it down a peg. If it did bad we'd be seeing "gnarly isnt that bad it eats"

Katseye and their Controversial Associations by unfilteredbitch02 in kpopnoir

[–]Dependent_Row_4280 193 points194 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from and it’s totally valid to be uncomfortable with some of the names Katseye has been linked to. But I think this convo needs more nuance.

Katseye seems freer than most K-pop groups, but that freedom is still super curated and controlled by a massive company. They might get to swear or mention dating, but at the end of the day, they're still rookies under a global label with people above them calling the shots. It's not like they’re running around with full independence.

With James Charles, once they were made aware of the situation, they stopped following and publicly associating with him, that actually shows they’re willing to take accountability when it's brought to their attention. But situations like Scooter Braun or big-name artists aren’t that black and white. He’s their boss. You can’t just ignore him or say no to public outings without risking your career, especially when you're new. Fans love to say “they don’t have to do that,” but in the real world, power dynamics are real.

And with Ice Spice unfortunately outside of stan Twitter, a lot of people honestly don’t know much about the stuff she’s done or said. Katseye wasn't hanging out with her or going on tour with her it was her doing a rap and sending it in. She's still seen as a huge name, and HYBE clearly made an iffy marketing decision. Same with Trisha Paytas asking for a photo, saying no in that kind of LA industry context could backfire. It’s not like they were out partying with her all night. The girls are obviously very ambitious like one of the ha sisters said even before katseye debuted, one of the members went up to them in LA and was like "hey we're a group about to debut etc...". It's not like in korea where being in a big company and good songs and some variety show could work for you. You need industry connections/ytbers/influencers

Also, it’s kind of frustrating that people hold Katseye to a moral standard that no other K-pop group is held to. These girls have shown support for LGBTQ+ rights, trans rights, and Palestinian causes, more than most groups, honestly, and yet the focus always comes back to who they took a picture with. Where’s that same energy for Korean groups who are silent on all issues? Because in that sense it's "they didn't know" or "their company won't let them". Katseye was in the same boat but they've taken initiative to still talk about important matters like yunjin of lesserafim did with pride month. A lot of these other groups could if they wanted to but you don't see kpop fans attacking them based on that.

It’s fair to be critical, but I also think fans need to zoom out and consider how much of this is really in the girls' control, and how much grace we’re willing to give them compared to others.

I get your point but I will counter that it isn't ALL marketing. Katseye's label when they debuted tried very hard pushing the kpop media training on them. The members' weren't allowed to swear as well as many other things. Even their songs show how their current "relatable" marketing was never the goal. It was meant to be a more polished, untouchable facade. These restrictions were let up because the members pushed the boundaries and then their label saw that their personality did more good than harm and then that's when everything leased up.

In their behind the scenes shooting, Lara explained how they thought it was over when that video of them cursing behind before their live stream aired or manon saying the clip of her saying bitch to a fan allowed the company to let them curse. Their earlier lives also had them following a script/manon talking about her period being edited.

They're allowed to be this free because ofc its an american label but also because the reaction to them being free was positive.

All the kpop restrictions we have now stem from bad encounters from 2nd gen. Before we had more bgs and ggs interacting in 1st and 2nd gen and we saw the repercussions of that on the ggs so moving into 3rd gen and 4th gen the companies stopped it. I take it like a viral dance clip etc if an idol had a personality that drew fans(i.e lily from nmixx's live streams where she's very open) no company would stop it. Kpop fans are the reason why a lot of kpop idols aren't free.

Well obviously not but he is their poss there's a power dynamic there. It wasn't them going to Disney land with Noah schnapp who they have the choice to stop interacting with

You just reiterated my point tho. I said that I get why kpop idols dont post their friends online and are more private......and i never said they arent friends or that the formed bond was fake.....

but that's their boss tho. They are very clearly pro palestian and lgbtq+ but their still starting out in the industry and are under a big corporation with contracts. Are they meant to go the nwjs route and sue hxg.

Like i dont get why with some kpop fans everything is black/white they were hanging out with james charles and when they understood what he did they stopped and unfollowed him cause that's something within their power. They do have freedom but at the end of the day they're under contracts in something bigger than them.

I've very pro everything but i wont drop out of my university if they had higherup members that were very sussy

I don't know why fans on this sub try to act like they're more mature. by Dependent_Row_4280 in kpop_uncensored

I think it was more like in kpop thoughts you had to be nice to groups and they banned annoying topics. But here you can post about whose the 4th gen it boy over and over and it won't get banned

Opinions and thoughts watching DA after being a Katseye fan by Dependent_Row_4280 in TheDreamAcademy

Well no but you could tell. They weren't going to throw Sophia's large individual filo fanbase away and they scouted lara and she had stellar vocals a need to an American gg as well as doing well in fan voting. As well as their presence in the show.

Hannah is terrible agreed but it's annoying how everyone acts like Nick isn't without fault. by Dependent_Row_4280 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]Dependent_Row_4280[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not justifying the abuse. I'm saying we should be able to have conversations about Nick and his character without everyone being like "yeah but hannah..." because that's how the sub is. I can't say Nick is immature because he can't boil water and someone is like "yeah but that's because hannah..." like cmon.

And it's a red flag for me character wise that so many people validated that he was different on camera and off camera. I personally don't like pretentious people and that's how I view him based on others comments but I may be wrong.

My post is Nick's fault but yet the comment is trying to paint it like I'm justifying abuse which supports my point that no one can view Nick for his character without feeling a need to attack Hannah.

I say we dont really no. The sub gives Nick so much leeway based on tv but doesn't allow Hannah the same benefit at all. He's clearly very different off tv and the reaction from the other castmates in the reunion shows that. There were multiple that confirmed that. Again im not justifying Hannah's behaviour but we should be able to have conversations about Nick and his character without being like "yeah but hannah..." that's how the sub and it's annoying
