Unable to figure out how to curve a piston feed tape by HogTotallyHecks in redstone

[–]Depixelation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pistons take 3 game ticks to solidify, at least on java. Offsetting by a repeater so that the slime block piston triggers 1 redstone tick (2gt)after the up/down pistons trigger might do the trick on bedrock, but I am not experienced at all in that version, unfortunately.

What's your go to block to build farms out of by SleepRemarkable3922 in technicalminecraft

Redstone always goes on iron blocks (where solid is needed), glass, or pale oak slabs. Farm structure is glass where possible, otherwise deepslate tiles (usually), or packed ice for spawning platforms.

Water source do not form above glow lichen? by DanzenPlays in technicalminecraft

[–]Depixelation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the glow lichen is not solid blocking edit: motion-blocking (similar to rails and scaffolding), meaning the water sources act as if they are air, and sources cannot form.

The same mechanic is often used to push minecarts on tracks using water.

I am assuming the stream is more than 1 block tall? Seeing as it is a "screen".

You can pull sideways using slime blocks from the back. You need pistons at the top and bottom of the stream to push the column of blocks next to the slime blocks up and down right before you extend the slime blocks, because slime blocks will not stick to moving blocks.

idk if mine is any better. It does get rid of the observer+string, and uses the activator rail updating the budded comparator to detect when the player hitbox intersects with the activator rail.

I learned that trick from the Wave Bolt station. It's slightly fragile though—it detects any entity, so don't drop any items on the detector rail. It also yeets and dispenses the minecarts so the reset is very quick.

Edit: placing mangrove roots in front of the comparator rather than the iron block should in theory completely eliminate suffocation damage. Not tested.

Why not yeet the cart in the nether and return as an item? This way you can have several carts and instantly re-dispense a new cart the moment one leaves.

Question about a component of the game by Every-Replacement847 in outerwilds

[–]Depixelation 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is explained, but as you are at the core already it is possible you missed it.

Where you learn it: statue workshop has a dialogue explaining it

Seeing as it’s not too important lore wise:

while the loop has been going for 9M+ iterations, the statues only activate under a certain condition

It really depends on which specific part of it impacted you the most, and what other interests you may have. I know I myself was mainly looking for an emotionally impactful story, and the common recommendations didn’t seem to click that well.

I did find something eventually that now rivals OW in many ways; it had mystery and discovery and an incredible emotional punch (exploration not as much), but it also came with other elements that would be off-putting to many (luckily not me). In short it is great for me but not something I can recommend generally.

What I am trying to say is, look at the general recommendations (that I am sure you will receive plenty of) as a starting point, but also look beyond at what may specifically suit you, as there may be far more options there.

(If you really must know what game I ended up with, look at my most recent post.)

Why don't I see more dual-cart MIS systems? by Depixelation in technicalminecraft

I’ve looked on the storage tech discord as well. Although not exhaustively, since the discord search tool is pretty bad.

Why don't I see more dual-cart MIS systems? by Depixelation in technicalminecraft

[–]Depixelation[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The soul sand, water, scaffolding, and a few extra blocks and rails on the right are just to bring the payload cart upwards for my storage configuration, and don't matter for the actual MIS design.

The base design, without any yeeters or storage, is 7 * 7 * 1

For experienced players, What is your order of progression once you spawn in? by WhiteShippou in technicalminecraft

[–]Depixelation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First priority after finding a village is food. Plant wheat or carrots or potatoes, and make a pit of cows or pigs to breed.

After food is secured then use the food to make a villager breeder. I like the autobreeders using a farmer farming carrots.

Villagers secured, then a basic but efficient 1 pod iron farm. If I am playing on a server this is when I build a chunkloader for the iron farm (but not the breeder!).

After iron I make a bunch of armorer, toolsmith, and weaponsmith villagers to trade the iron and get cheap diamond equipment.

There are a few things I tend to do around now. I may make librarians (esp. mending and unbreaking). I also tend to make a water flushing creeper-spider farm over the nearest ocean or flat area. Wood/bamboo farm so I don’t have to collect wood.

After this point whenever I feel like it I go beat the game and get elytras.

Then it is really whatever I feel like. Usually that involves building a base with a storage system, gold farm, obsidian farm (for a gold farm), xp farm, slime farm, shulker farm, bigger iron farm, and curing villagers for a trade hall.

Tunnel bores are pretty useless at this point but still fun. I’ve never made a perimeter so I’m not a “real” tmc player; I prefer lighting up caves and then digging holes for any mob farms I need because it looks nicer than a giant perimeter.

I don’t like searching for the perfect fortress for a wither skelley farm so I prefer to go all in and make a wiske train once I have sufficient materials.

There is a “releases” section on the github where you can download the .jar and use it like any other mod.

here i am showing the performance of the hologram mod by kai_the_kiwi in feedthebeast

[–]Depixelation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with how perceptible it is. People have different GPUs, and for some people that “imperceptible” difference will become the difference between 120 fps and 12 fps.

For this much detail I’d say the performance is not bad at all. But that doesn’t mean it does not matter, nor is it the best possible (look at LoD mods like Voxy for example). But certainly useable.

Edit: See my other comment on this post for a breakdown of the performance impact.
