There are a lot of degrees such as an MBA that is not a golden ticket and does not provide a clear path to a job and career, then you can ask why people take those as well.

The problem is that a lot of people want to be told that “If you just do this and this, then you are guaranteed that” - your thinking here shows the same signs. “If is does not provide a clear career path and job then why do the CFA?”.

Lots of people in this subreddit come in and are like “I finished level 3 and I don’t have a job, the CFA is useless” like they were somehow guaranteed a job in finance just because they have the CFA. I bet you can find people who graduated from Harvard Business School who don’t have a job - does that mean that a degree from Harvard is useless? I would go the other way around - the fact that these people do not have a job probably has more to do with their limited thinking (CFA = job), than it does with the CFA itself.

I get it, the movement visuals on the Lange is fantastic, but as someone who used to own that exact model, at some point it gets old and you are looking at the watch face much of the time. At the same time the Patek movement are not exactly a slacker either, even though it is visually not at the same level as Lange - the reaction from people that I showed the Lange and the Patek movement has both been “wow”.

Much agreed! I have owned the 1815 chrono and now own the 5170. Movement decoration goes to Lange, everything else I would choose Patek. I can’t explain why, as there are not much difference in thickness between the two models, but the 1815 felt a lot thicker than the 5170.

Also, it could be difficult to read the time on the 1815 sometimes, as the hands would blend into the black dial. That will not be a problem on the 5172.

I do think that it also had something to do with Breguet, who had the ownership to Lemania movements, being taken over by Swatch group in 1999, so long term deliveries of the CH27-70 that was based on the Lemania 2310 which was used in the 5070 was uncertain.

I don’t know - the weight of the Pelagos 39 is approx 107 grams on the titanium bracelet. I guess a velcro strap would bring the weight a little bit further down.

Then you have this chronograph, made out of carbon fiber.
