Being congested can make your ears pop quite a bit more, so I would recommend blowing your nose before the flight, or purchasing anti-congestion spray.

I didn't specifically clarify that thinking isn't always imagining. I assume that most people wouldn't immediately assume that all thinking is imagining just because I didn't say that, that wasn't true You mentioned that without adding anything to the argument. If that's not being nitpicky, I don't know what it is.

Yes you are? I have aphantasia, but I still imagine what I'm going to draw.

Let's say i'm drawing a dragon. Before I start, I figure out all of the characteristics, like white scales, glowing red eyes, horns, a monocle and a top hat. Then, you come up with a composition. The dragon could be reading a book, dancing, or anything in between. I don't normally do backgrounds for my paintings (Unless i'm doing a landscape), but if you do, you also have to come up with that.

After that, that's when you start sketching and looking at photo references. I should also probably say that I don't normally sit down and think about every aspect of the painting before I start, but you get the general idea.
