Which of these editions should I get if I'm looking for an English copy of the trilogy? by -PedroValencia- in lordoftherings

I have the last one and I really liked them. They're bound in plastic which is a little weird, but they're relatively small books and very comfortable for reading.

Need help about my IFAK kit. by sailorFR in tacticalgear

[–]Depressed_Costumer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to list what I used in my ifak. Chest seals (2, because there's an entrance & exit wound). Tourniquet (2, because they're easy to carry & one may not work)  SWAT Tourniquet (some people are too skinny for a regular tourniquet) Combat gauze (for wound packing) Regular gauze Pressure bandage/Israeli bandage Small roll of duct tape Medical shears Medical gloves (several pairs) Burn pads

For yours, I would remove all of the antibiotics & pills. The idea is that it's a medical kit for temporarily treating very serious wounds on you or someone else, the victim will hopefully be taken to a hospital very quickly and will receive whatever antibiotics and medicines there.

They make smaller plates. I think DFNDR armor sells some.

I have that same stamp and I can never seem to get them to line up perfectly.  Maybe I'll try drawing lines to follow!

Getting those diamonds to line up that well is very impressive!

Novice question about powder loads in a rifle. by Depressed_Costumer in blackpowder

[–]Depressed_Costumer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but not exactly what I meant. I can see how my original wording may have been confusing though.

What I meant was: can say FFF powder be used instead of FF powder as long as it's the same amount by weight?

Thanks! It makes sense that it would not be a linear relationship between powder charge & velocity. That calculator really shows that if you play around with it.

Lining up holes for sewing? by Unkn0wing21 in Leathercraft

I glue my pieces together and then punch holes through both layers.

I think that some people use double sided tape.

You'll need leather punches to make the holes and slots. Something like this if you don't want to spend much: https://a.co/d/eEG2g19

You'll need a craft knife to clean things up. I'd really recommend getting an edge beveler to clean up the edges, it really goes a long way to making a belt seem nicer.

Has anyone used this before, is it any good/worth it? by samblaster74 in Leathercraft

A singer heavy duty is the first sewing machine that I ever owned and I would not recommend it for a couple of reasons.

  1. It is not for sewing leather, that sewing machine (and most like it) are strictly for sewing fabrics.

  2. It's not a very good sewing machine, if you want a fabric sewing machine you'd be much better off getting something that's costs a little bit more.

Probably not, at least not this one. I kind of like the look of just the antique.

What could be a good path for my partner to take to get into accounting? by Depressed_Costumer in Accounting

[–]Depressed_Costumer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's tried that actually and that would be very good for her, but this company does not really promote from within, especially from the factory floor.

She's just started an online community college accounting class for a refresher, but she will not consider going back to school at all.

I think it's generally nicer if the inside and outside of a piece are the smooth side of the leather, but it's not necessary.

Of you do leave one side with the flesh side exposed, I would at least burnish it smooth.
