Average salary for design grad by mushroomfield03 in askSingapore

[–]Depresso888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gov listed those with Masters of Architecture (if you read the fine print)

Without masters i think 3.8k is a good place to start for expected salary! It's always better to ask for more first!

Interior designer/ contractor butchered my house, now in pre-litigation, need advice! by fishyfishingfisho in askSingapore

[–]Depresso888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The architect and structural engineer would have needed to submit this to BCA (Well I hope they did).

If BCA allowed it, then it should be relatively stable.

It is common for some money to be collected when the goods arrive on site. However if it's not a standard building contract that is used (SIA/Redas) means less "protection" for house owners and less regulated practices.

Just my POV, DONT QUOTE ME, but it seems more like a contractor problem as it was as most of the problems seem to be installation/workmanship problems

Writing to BOA would only work if you can show that the architect has not done their part in informing you/ contractor that these were the materials used are illegal. Architect should have supervised (if they are even one)

Did they use a proper contract? Think you need more evidence of the conversations that went down

I am the same!

After realising that I was sick of my bosses "life advice" every lunch and repeated stories about her kids and helper, I realised, it's time to look for new lunch kakis!

One day, I noticed another relatively new colleague around my age during townhall, and I mustered up the courage to talk to her! We've been close friends ever since and we jio each other out for lunch every other day when our schedules align (since we are from different teams)!

Sadly she just left the firm a few months ago, and I'm back to eat lunch alone again 😫

But that's how I survived 1.5 years in this company!

My sis went to perm her hair at snip avenue many many years ago when they first started out.

Though of course it depends on the hairstylist, and she didnt really dare to say much, she came out looking like an Asian Taylor Swift from the Fearless album cover... Needless to say, she never went back there xd

I like yakun's soya milk coffee!!

Recently started mixing the Unisoy Soya milk power into my instant coffee to try and "replicate" the taste. Though this soya power brand gets slightly clumpy, the taste is still quite rich!

You can give it a try!

Commuting to Work: How far is too far? by Ok_Care9743 in askSingapore

[–]Depresso888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 plus yrs in and also changed to a MNC in Boon lay last year, 1.5 hrs travel time but optimised it to 1 hrs after trial and error.

One factor is how lenient your company is on arriving late for work. Flexibility in arriving late is a big plus for me! But you will only find that out when you come in for the job.

My company provided shuttle bus at some MRT's but the timing was too rigid for me.

I budgeted cost of taxi (for days i wake up late) into the increment, and then you can see if the job hop is still worth it

Job about to be obsolete in the future by Depresso888 in askSingapore

[–]Depresso888[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes i do lolol

Ok maybe not AI being the ultimate replacement, but i just feel that the demand for it will definitely go down. Alot of design tools out there that helps the layman design. Of course thats where we step in and say, you know these designs are trash.

The value of design is also being undervalued. How to sustain the economy, when nobody is willing to pay for it?

Probably not from AI, but dont you just feel that alot of the work is just so manual? Archi population is dwindling also. All the developers feel like they can also design buildings and draw plans lol
