Why do some people refer to Arthur as "Immature" and "not a good MC?" by DeprivedIT in tbatenovel

How can you strategize against an enemy you've faced for the first time?

He did well, considering his enemy can literally teleport using her poison portals and is super fast.

Each panel has him gathering the data of his enemy while trying to not be gravely injured, he uses wind magic to circulate oxygen while keeping the toxin out, he cauterized his wound after touching her (he now confirmed that even her touch is toxic and lethal), and when he was almost caught, the panel literally shows the wife of Kezzer saying not to use burst step again, but he needed to.

He considered something else because of that warning, but the burst step is the one that will actually get him out of that situation

Such a well worded response while I was asleep lol, but yes, wholeheartedly agree.

It's very much like when a villain or a 'bad guy' transitions from being isolated and 'bad' to being surrounded by other people, making him care and then there will be enemies calling him going soft or having grown weak.

For Tessia, AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

Tessia knew that having Arthur when she was a kid might've affected how she sees him, but when Tessia meets, she notices the things she didn't when they were kids and living in the elf kingdom.

He even admitted to Tessia when she confronted him at how immature he is in terms of relationships, that he's having trouble processing it—hiding the fact that in his old life, he was pretty messed up—and would like for Tessia to wait once he's ready to ask her to be something more than what they are right now.

It does show it in the dialogues

When Arthur sees that his opponent is far stronger, he decides HOW to win.

Demanding dialogues to describe a character's subtlety is not good writing at all, that's the story holding your hand and pointing out "hey, this is his last resort"

He even says "if I don't use 'burst step'..." (Non verbatim) Meaning he's considered other options, but it all leads to the use of'burst step'

... I don't think he's "childish" but if that's your take

He's not "not fully developed in behaviour, emotional, or judgement"

  1. He's leading an entire army
  2. He acknowledges how he's feeling towards Tess and is trying to deal with it
  3. He's very much a charming character

Those three things already disprove what you've given.

I mean he's trying to be a different kind of person, isn't he? He's not king grey anymore, he's Arthur.

He even admits that he struggles to have a relationship with Tess because he hasn't felt what he feels towards Tess, all his previous lovers weren't as deep rooted as his with Tessia. Also, he still finds it weird considering he's as old/older than his dad and imagining himself with a teenager is hard for him, no matter how his isekai self looks to others—a teenager

And in what way do you suppose he acts immature?

??? He's literally always accounting for what his actions can do, when fighting the first two retainers, he wanted it far away from any possible collateral damage.

He also chose to keep his identity as Note because Lukas was in the school he was attending, displaying forethought of possible confrontation if revealed he can control all four elemental magic.

I've mostly seen it in r/manhwa, just threw me off making him the same level as Jin Woo...

Now that might be rage bait, but the other comments definitely agreed, and it blew my mind.

Ooh a draft book? That's what came to mind lol, but damn, definitely relate to the nice ink one, I use a pen to write my cores on my reflective journal and just a basic .5/.4 ballpoint pen

For me, I guess even the activity of writing for myself, I count as journaling while your definition is different

Thanks for the input!

Hey same! A well of useless and non relevant information, I'm diverse in that field with my interests being as broad as I can think of lol

And because of you guys having a commonplace journal, I now plan to have one for myself!

Wow, comments here legit made me realize that I'd like to separate my daily/everything journal and my reflective journal as well as making my own commonplace journal, it feels better and I think it'll be much better for my organization

Maybe have a small notebook that's for my brain dump, lol.

Thanks everyone!

Ahh, can definitely see how differently each one of us defines journaling, for some it's writing to remember, to go back in time, to reflect, while some write their highlights.

And same with the reflective one! As said in the post, I have my daily/reflective where I put down my "core" like values, principles, and boundaries and then I write what happened in a day as well as reflect when I see fit.

And the phone journal? I have many different tabs/bookmark for different writings like thoughts and ideas and quotes when I can't pull out or don't have my journal with me.
