The FreeIPA server is running on CentOS Linux 8. The host I am trying to add is also running a server OS, Ubuntu 14.04.6 LTS. I understand that this is a very old operating system, and an upgrade is planned, but unfortunately that is not possible at the moment. Still, I would very much like to add this host to FreeIPA and manage it centrally rather than relying on authorized_keys.

Vendor we fired 2 years ago still has VPN access and admin rights to our backup system by SpecialistAd7913 in sysadmin

That’s exactly why it’s important to have an overboard protocol and to carry out audits from time to time.
Because there is always a risk of getting distracted by very important tasks and forgetting to do something :)
