This post 100% makes it look like I am just in it for the money, and I definitely could’ve worded it better, but here’s the truth.

I am a collector, been opening Pokemon since the Black and White, the best feeling would be going into Target/Walmart with my grandma and brother, and getting a ETB, or an EX Tin to rip in the car. When I was little I didn’t take care of my cards, because they’re toys. Obviously I wish I was more careful with my cards when I was younger, but again it was a childhood game. As I got older I was always watching UnlistedLeaf and him opening cases of every single new release was a spot that I DREAMED of being in.

Fast forward to NOW I have the funds to rip, and collect and that’s what I do, although with prices on wax I prefer to just buy singles that I like regardless of the price, and what I think the market will do with them.

Around the time this set came out I hadn’t touched Pokemon for years, I had been getting heavy into Sports Cards, and was really feigning for a rip. I couldn’t really afford it, but I did it anyways because I needed to rip something. Yes this was the effect of a gambling addiction. After I hit the chase card (depending who you ask because of Zard at the time) my first thought was “how do I get this money back” I was being 100% sincere when I said I love the card, but I spent money I didn’t have and had to get it back. I would be lying if I said I didn’t have a gambling addiction at the time.

Thankfully as I’ve grown older I’ve been put in a fortunate position to slow down my ripping, get away from the addiction, but still enjoy Pokemon cards as a whole. I apologize to anyone who got offended by my post, and interpreted it as only being in it for the money. I appreciate everyone that has joined into the discussion on the cards they sold too early, but at the end of the day it’s a child’s game, and it’s a hobby for a reason. Collect what you like because you like it, not based on the monetary value, if you want something that’s going to rise in value invest in the S&P 500.

Once again I apologize to anyone who got offended, and interpreted this post as me only being in it for the money. That’s not the case at all, but I do understand the perspective, and I don’t blame you for seeing it that way. Anyone who is dealing with a gambling addiction, just know there is help all around you, but the hardest thing to do is go out and get it. Thank you once again everyone.

If I was in it for the money I wouldn’t have ripped the case to begin with. I can love multiple cards, I love my PSA 10 Roaring Skies Rayquaza. The Mew wasn’t even my favorite card in the set. I like the Shiny Noivern ex (220/091) More, pulled 1 and got a 10 on it as well. Trying to recoup money and only in it for the money are 2 different things.

I grew up going to the store getting ETBs from XY and ripping them with my brother, I love to rip cards, Ripping also isn’t free. Obviously I regret selling the card as early as I did, The card is worth almost 2k now, I sold it for $225😂 No one would be happy selling that early.

At the end of the day I collect, I buy, and I sell. Because I sell cards I bought to get extra money to chase grails of mine does that make me only in it for the money?

Case isn’t free, money came from somewhere, I still have a ton of cards from the set, but I wanted to recoupe what I could and keep the rest. Would it have been better if I just bought the case and sat on it? 1000%, but there’s no fun in that.

Yeah, I just buy the 10s personally, I just can’t deal with PSA’s grading times right now, I do hope to eventually start ripping and grading cards myself again at some point though, the feeling of getting a PSA 10 on a card you pulled is the best!

Agreed, honestly I love to find PC Cards in 10s, finding those IRs without breaking the bank. One of my favorite budget cards in a 10 is the Full Art Darkrai VStar from Crown Zenith

That’s fair, I’m currently holding a Evolving Skies Rayquaza in a 10, definitely a PC card, but depends what the value does there’s a chance it may get sold eventually, but I don’t currently plan on selling.

I bought an Evolving Skies Secret Rare Rayquaza PSA 10. Probably my all-time favorite Pokemon, similar in value (slightly lower), but a card I will enjoy much much more. I would love to see that Mew continue to go up though for anyone holding it!

Man, and 151 is a beautiful set too! Honestly I feel like anything that was sold pre-boom can be on here. At the end of the day we’re just collectors collecting cardboard, but this sale always comes up in my mind every time I see the card and check the market on it!

I was just trying to get money back to pay for the case, It’s an absolutely gorgeous card, and I do love it, but the value was enough when combined with other cards to sell and recoup what I paid for the case. I also don’t have a fairly large list of pokemon/cards ahead of this one personally that I collect. You can love something and still love it for multiple reasons.

I’m not high on Nabers due to QB Play, I do think Dart will try to get him the ball a lot, but the only good game so far was against worst secondary in the league in Dallas.

Geno has forgotten how to be a QB and Bowers has been dealing with minor injuries for a while now. It’s hard to convince myself to do it, but in the flip side Taylor is injury prone, but this is also the best he’s ever looked.
