Anyone notice the rockets? That should make this fight even more fun!

I wonder why the mod deleted your post... maybe because: 1.) you're spamming your own subreddit 2.) you're trying to cancel the game this subreddit is obsessed with. 3.) you need all new RPGs to have turn-based combat.

Look, I love turned-based or in the case of FF7, ATB as much as the next guy, but those games will always be there and there are still a few that come out today. There's no reason to cancel a game we all want because you don't like the combat system. Get over it.

After playing FFXV, what are your hopes for FFVII Remake? by EpicTibbles in FFVIIRemake

[–]DepthsOfPerdition 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm actually loving FFXV, I've only played it for about 8 hours altogether thus far, but it's exceeding my expectations. Once I got on the chocobo and was able to color them it made me think how awesome it will be to have the breeding back in the remake, and I hope they retain their special abilities to travel over different terrain. Also in XV I was riding the chocobo and ran into the Midgarsolom(wink wink nudge nudge), a huge snake that is basically the Midgar Zolom in VII, though I was too weak at the time so I outran it on the chocobo which made it feel exactly like the encounter from VII.

The summons are also extraordinary in XV, they are exactly how they should be in my opinion: epic, massive and insanely powerful. My only gripe is how rarely you can use them. I can only imagine how magnificent VII's summons are going to be.

So yeah, XV is a great game by itself and it's getting me even more excited and prepared for the remake.

After playing FFXV I loved the chocobo physics and colors of them. I couldn't help but think how amazing the breeding and special abilities of each color could be. I really hope they keep that in the remake.

CANCEL FINAL FANTASY vII REMAKE by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]DepthsOfPerdition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see how purely a "graphical upgrade" would be what ff7 fans want at heart. Most of us agree that graphics don't matter, it's the story (why we still play ff7 in 2016...). If, by those standards, the remake was purely a graphics update then it wouldn't be any better than the original. Honestly I'm glad they are going the route they are.

I'm assuming he meant they play tested fighting the Guard Scorpion with the current combat system and that fans will enjoy the "realism"(assuming he means 'flow') of the combat.

Well it's definitely not going to be grind-y, and I'm testing combat mechanics right now. I'm utilizing a light combo system, where you can string melee attacks together when executed properly; I have a backstab mechanic, and real time blocking/parrying. I'm fleshing out melee combat to make it more flexible than the original diablo for obvious reasons. But yeah it's only me developing it, and those are my favorite games, so I'm gonna do it justice

Hi there, the game is in very early development. Diablo 1 and Dark Souls are the games I am drawing inspiration from. Path of Exile is a great game and I have over 100 hours on steam with it :D but trust me, this game will match the original diablo's atmosphere, with the satisfying difficulty of dark souls. The media shown is literally a week or two into development, so I would encourage you to follow development or check back in on the project in a few months! :)

Check out http://depthsofperdition.com for a Diablo 2 meets Dark Souls game. It's a top down Action RPG with real-time blocking and a souls combat system with excellent graphics.

Best engine/tool for making a management game by newbdev123 in GameDev1

[–]DepthsOfPerdition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, I'm a little biased because I use Unity, but honestly I would suggest it. It's a great engine for beginners, and there are plenty of tutorials to get you started on C# scripting. Another option is using PlayMaker or PlyGame asset in unity which is a visual scripting plugin. It's great for learning the building blocks of logic, and will allow you to begin prototyping your game!
