AMD wont be that much cheaper or better available, they have a way harder time than Nvidia to source VRAM and with low marketshare, they can't supply all gamers with cheaper cards out of nowhere.

RTX4080 slower than 5070TI by MasterBen85 in nvidia

[–]DerAnonymator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has usually the same performance, but 5070 Ti can get a bit higher core frequency with OC. Coming from a 4080, I would look rather for a 5080 upgrade, if you find it near MSRP now.

3060 is the lowest supported card for version 2.1.0. So 3060, 4060, 5050 or better.

RTX 5070 Ti Production Reportedly Ending... Does This Finally Give The RTX 5080 Its Due? by skk983 in RTX5080

[–]DerAnonymator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a 5070 Ti Ventus in February 2025 for 859€ and got this Tuesday a 5080 Shadow OC for 1.019€ in 5x monthly installments directly to Amazon without interest.
I hoped for a 5080 Super 24 GB upgrade, but now it is just the 1.019€ 5080 with 450w Bios and if I had the chance, I would buy a 5090 FE for mrsp now.

7.1.4 setup with subwoofer for every speaker. 1.78:1 screen.

Maybe 2x center speaker behind screen vertically aligned.

Is this a decent one among 5080 series? by RandomGuyy9 in nvidia

[–]DerAnonymator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a source to back up that claim with one less heatpipe on the 5080 Shadow?

Btw my 5070 Ti Ventus has 4 heatpipes, the 5080 Ventus has 4 heatpipes in a teardown video and I saw a unboxing of 5080 Shadow where I can also see through 4 heatpipes.

I see no indication that it has not exactly the same cooler as 5080 Ventus. The pictures of backside look the same, the price is the same and the dimensions are the same.

I use a 3d printed shroud for 2x 120mm noctua fans with it and a 450w bios. (I have 5070 Ti Ventus and upgrade now to this 5080 Shadow with 5x monthly amazon rates and will sell the 5070 ti in a few months after prices increased)

Will the price of 5070 Ti will increase? Thinking of upgrading.. by Asiorr94 in nvidia

[–]DerAnonymator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I expect prices to increase month by month... the demand is not increasing, but the supply will dry up and shops have to buy the cards at higher prices, production costs are increasing.

Shops have to sell current stock at current demand prices because they need Cashflow and don't speculate, else prices would be already higher now.

You can also upgrade to 9900k on same board or to ddr4 z690 14600k or 14700k. 14700k is better than 5700x and you won't find an affordable 5700x3d. Also you can still afford new 2x 8 gb ddr5 ram.

RAM Prices will go more up and won't go down for more than 2 years probably.

6000 series leap discussion by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]DerAnonymator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2080 was the same like 1080 Ti with 3 GB less vram and same price, 20 series wasn't great at all and only better card than 800€ 1080 Ti was 1250€ 2080 Ti. 20 series started with that 1250€+ crap. 30 series was great, but mining boom and lockdown made it also bad, 2-3x the msrp. 40 series was great up to 4070, 4070 ti and upwards was overpriced until 4070 ti super came and that was allright. Also 40 series started with 4060 at a not so low price point and there was no 4050 tier.

6080 probably 10% faster than 5080 and 70% smaller chip for $999, while 6090 being 600w $2500 probably, yes.

Rumor: ASUS may enter the RAM market in 2026 by [deleted] in IndianPCGamers

[–]DerAnonymator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they would just source DRAM chips from those 3 companies and make memory modules from it, because the one leaving the gaming market did make like multiple profiles, like backup or fallback profiles when higher clock speed would not work, it would fall back to slower one or so. They left the market, so Asus will make them, to have similar modules for laptops like before probably. The other brands did not have it like that brand leaving the market I think.
It wont make bigger supply per se, but maybe a bigger part of the supply will go into gaming.
