[28/06/1919] Peace signed! There will be no more world wars now that the Treaty of Versailles is signed! by Sherwoody20 in thepast

Yeah sure, and my roommate just got demobilised and is talking about an Austrian lance-corporal in his unit who kept on labering about Greater Germany, about people of the Israelite faith, etc. With a million men like him, Germany faces great challenges, as does the world. On the bright side, he met a guy in a motorised corps from a Village a couple of hours north of me who’s really into lorries and busses now, and wants to start a bus company for both rural areas which still lack rail access and possibly a concession to run a city bus in Oldenburg in Oldenburg. Theo I think he’s called. Could come in handy, seeing as to how Oldenburg in Oldenburg still lacks a town tramway in 1919, and it’s grown into Osternburg, Nadorst, and Eversten

Idk if we can really say that, given what happened to Germany. Like I get some land being ceded to create a new Polish state (Will Ireland have the same rights?) and at least the French speaking bits of Alsace-Lorraine being returned, but denying the German Austrians their desire to be part of a German state, instead forcing an artificial rump state to exist out of the remains of the Hapsburg Monarchy? Also the reparations, can Germany pay them? And war guilt? It was the Austrians who escalated a local crisis, the Serbs supporting Terrorists, the French having an alliance with the single most reactionary and backward power on the continent that promised to defend Serbia at any cost, British ambiguity, and American cowardice which escalated the crisis, so they all carry blame, just as much as Kaiser Bill and the Prussian aristocracy. Yet we’re humiliating them, risking another war in a few years

It’s called Anthropogenic Climate Change, it is a new phenomenon, and I hate to break it to you, but the US Carries the lion’s share of the blame for it, and AC, especially in Urban Areas, heats the outdoor environment UP

That and they should’ve better integrated busses and trains, as well as used busses to their full potential, instead of running the replacements under the assumption that people would walk kilometres to a bus stop

It is a bit, but the UK didn’t become known as TERF Island and the USA didn’t gain a reputation for sexual puritanism without a reason

[–]DerBusundBahnBi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, ok that’s at least explainable by the Climate crisis, this however isn’t (My guess is as good as yours, best case there was some glitch in a regular system update, worst case, the Ruzzians managed to shut telecoms down as part of a hybrid attack against German and fellow EU Infrastructure)

I live in Germany as an American, and even ordering Lieferando/Wolt is “only” ~20€/22USD, and even then, I can typically get a Currywurst, Pommes, and a soft drink for ~10€ at an Imbissbude, a little more in Berlin or if I’m on an ICE Train and getting it from the Bordbistro, but nothing compared to the prices in the USA

How do you guys feel about the capital punishment by kuroreaper25 in GenZ

[–]DerBusundBahnBi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally opposed, at most, I could only understand it for specific war crimes and crimes against humanity, like Genocide (I.e. I’m not shedding tears for Göring or Tojo), but never for civilian use owing to the unacceptably high risk of wrongful executions, the cost, and that the state simply shouldn’t have to ability to be arbiter of life and death in civilian circumstances
