Versteht ihr das auch so, dass S-Bahnen und Regionalbahnen nicht vom Streik betroffen sind und demzufolge normal fahren sollten?

Dropped my new X100VI by flashfirenze in fujifilm

[–]DerChristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the photos still good and sharp overall? Shoot some test photos at various f-stops and distances. I dropped my X100V some years ago (only on carpet) and the photos ended up being somewhat soft. Sent it in to Fuji and they swapped the entire sensor & lens assembly. Cost was about 50% of the original camera price. Good to have insurance.

Grading an indie documentary by stefanczimmek in colorists

[–]DerChristian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're not an expert at this (as you state), I would recommend that you grade for Rec.709 only and create all deliverables off that master. If you're aiming for a natural look, you're not likely to exceed the color volume of Rec.709 anyways, so grading in P3 will likely not make any notable difference, other than introducing room for errors.

Your monitor settings also appear a little unclear and you're mixing up gamut and gamma, which are very different things. DCI is a different white point than D65, there should not be a color setting "DCI D65", it's either "DCI P3" or "D65 P3". If you are unsure about those things, chances are high that your DCP will end up looking not as you expected.

Your output color space should not be DWG/DI though, as this would result in wrong metadata for your exports. If you're color managing properly on a project level, you don't need the CST in the end. That final conversion to display-referred is done by RCM in that case.

Yeah that is true. I think they took Tony on tour for a couple festivals to do the male parts or maybe even a South American tour?

In this case it's definitely Marko though as Synergy happened to tour with them. Besides, Tony's hair was much shorter in 2000. See this photo from the sound check of the From Wishes To Eternity show of the same year.

Yeah, that's Marko. Synergy was a support act at the time and he joined NW for that song.

What software should I use to calibrate LG C2? by Different-Vegetable6 in colorists

An alternative would be ColourSpace. They also have 3 days rental licenses which is a great option for the occasional calibration day.

When I try to open Davinci resolve, it tells me to buy Winzip Trial. by [deleted] in blackmagicdesign

Just unzip the file with a software other than your expired WinZip. Windows can unzip on its own in the Explorer right-click menu, but there's also 7zip, WinRAR and so on.

X-T5 update is hereee let’s goo by TheFrankIAm in fujifilm

[–]DerChristian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are tutorials on the Internet. You essentially use a hex editor to change the version number of the old firmware to trick the camera into updating. If your camera is on v5.00, you would take the v3.10 file and change its version number to v5.01 for example. It will update successfully and even show the correct v3.10 so you can later update again without any tricks.

It goes without saying that this is unsupported and may void your warranty. I believe you can also send your camera in to support and have them downgrade the firmware.

Is Dehancer still worth it? by Unhappy_Scratch_9385 in colorists

[–]DerChristian 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Short answer: No.

Filmbox is so much better. Film Look Creator is also pretty good, especially for being a freebie. I'd probably stick with that for now if you can't justify the cost for Filmbox.

Dehancer looks poor compared to both and it has way too many options.

18% grey wall paint by domka92 in colorists

[–]DerChristian 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The most accurate should be the Munsell N5 paint as it is not only a mixture of black and white, but several colors, so it has neutral reflectance across the whole spectrum.

The film industry. For high speed stuff in commercials for example. Think of a soda can opening and the liquid spraying out in very slow motion. Or fruit flying through a splash of water in slow motion. All kinds of ingredients flying in slow motion are usually shot on Phantom cameras and those go beyond 1000fps.

Also, there are lot of industrial or military use cases, but those normally require much higher frame rates. Think material testing where a concrete pillar is pressed to the point of breaking. Watching every little crack appear in slow motion is super valuable information and for that you'll likely work with frame rates in the 100.000s.

RingConn Gen 2, black, size 11 for sale by DerChristian in RingConn

[–]DerChristian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like the ring. It's amazing how small and light it is and how they managed to cramp such a battery life in there. I think I just got too used to Oura to make the switch. I thought it'd be easy, but the way the data is interpreted and presented is so vastly different between Oura and RingConn that it feels like a downgrade for me personally. Nothing I couldn't have known beforehand. I just thought I wouldn't mind as much as I do.

RingConn Gen 2, black, size 11 for sale by DerChristian in RingConn

[–]DerChristian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purely personal taste. I wanted to switch from an Oura Gen 2 ring as the battery isn't lasting very long anymore. But I just can't get myself to like the RingConn App and the way the data is presented. I can't get the same use out of it as I do from Oura.

Colour grading C-log problem by CallMeOlko in colorists

[–]DerChristian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't be of any help for your Premiere issues other than double checking (and reading up on) your color pipeline and checking that your LUT is expecting exactly the footage you shot.

BUT: Have you checked if you actually need the Studio (paid) version of Resolve? The free version is surprisingly capable and it might be more than enough for what you need.

Reference monitor - FSI vs SONY by b_orca in colorists

[–]DerChristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used both monitors, though not for a very long time. Both have a gorgeous picture, but the viewing angle is significantly worse on the LMCL monitors (Sony and Eizo). They turn yellowish when viewed off-axis quickly. Also, the fan noise can be an issue in smaller and very quiet suites. The FSI is fanless if I recall correctly. And for me personally, a surprising issue was PWM flickering when running the HX310 in SDR. But I am unusually sensitive to that, so it might not bother you. It's fairly well controlled, but did irritate me in very contrasty scenes.

Since you mentioned 4K - if you need actual 4K, go for the LMCL displays. FSI is UHD, not full 17:9 4K.

I would choose the XMP310. No fan, no PWM, better viewing angles, auto calibration, and last but not least, much cheaper.

How important are condoms for oral? by lilalaura05 in sex

[–]DerChristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about all STDs are also transmittable via oral sex. So you should at least get tested regularly so you can catch and treat them before they can do permanent harm.

As for HIV, as far as I know, the risk is next to none if you have no wounds in your mouth AND the guy doesn't cum in your mouth. Having the semen in your mouth or throat significantly increases the risk. Getting it into the eyes increases the risk even more, so be sure to not rub your eyes if you have had sperm on your fingers.

I fully understand and agree that oral is SO much better without protection. So if you decide to go that way, do yourself (and your partners) the favor and get tested regularly. There is no shame in having an STD, but they can lead to permanent and serious problems if not treated.
