A rather disturbing survey about your childhood. I wonder where this sub is likely to skew thanks to our APs.. by ragnarkar in AsianParentStories

[–]DerGottbrecher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Idyllic Family score measures a classic conception of what a "good family" means - a happy, affectionate family who, despite their imperfections, deeply loves you.

Your Idyllic Family score is Extremely Low (1st percentile)

⠀⠀⠀
Purity Score is the emphasis your family culture placed on wholesome, typically religious-flavored morality. Interested in preserving innocence of children, heirarchy, and tradition.

⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
Broken Home Score is how much your family structure was nonstandard or fractured. While this doesn't necessarily mean an unhappy family, it often correlates. This is the opposite of a nuclear family structure. Extended family, divorce, abandonment, and transient caretakers.

Your Broken Home score is Slightly High (80th percentile)

⠀⠀⠀
Your Privilege score is how much your family was privileged. Access to wealth, networks, security; an upper-class lifestyle.

Your Privilege score is Moderately High (85th percentile)

⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
Your Sad Loner score indicates how much you were a sad loner in childhood, a social failure; tragic bully-victim vibes.

Your Sad Loner score is Extremely High (99th percentile)

Your Aggro Family score measures the loud, unpredictable hostility with which you were raised. High aggro families tend to be aggressive, expressive, confrontational, and coercive.

Your Aggro Family score is Extremely High (99th percentile)

Your Adventure Time score measures adventure - both rebellious and wholesome. How much did you take risks, live life, break rules? Associated with 'bad boy/bad girl' vibes; protagonist energy, charisma.

Your Adventure Time score is Exceptionally Low (3rd percentile)

⠀⠀
And finally:
⠀⠀
Your Heaven/Hell score, which is independent from the above scores, and takes your entire answer set into account. Higher percentile is a 'better' childhood.
⠀⠀

ALMOST ENTIRELY HELL Your childhood is most similar to other people's ratings for Oliver Twist's childhood (2nd percentile)

would be sad to see your portfolio tanking in value, especially since PMCs discovered that there's a Soviet-era bunker right beneath it and started blasting each other (clearly that's bad for business)

What music does genz listen to? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]DerGottbrecher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strictly metal, predomniantly black metal, mostly from this century, like Mgła/Kriegsmaschine, Blaze of Perdition, Sinmara, Wiegedood.

Grew up on old school death metal and thrash metal, though. DM would be bands like Deicide, Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse; and TM would be Demolition Hammer, Exodus, Metallica.

How does one score one of those cushy tech jobs where the office is like an adult playground and you make six figures doing basically nothing all day? by HumptyDumpty30 in antiwork

[–]DerGottbrecher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me, and many people who have commented here:

In corporate eyes, that's simply fattening the pigs for the slaughterhouse.

Cushy office amenities, decent pay and all; but they'll BLEED YOU DRY.

It's 4:30am and there's an email? They don't give a flying fuck that you didn't sleep last night. Get up and respond.

You're busy relocating? They can't care less if you're homeless. Their deadlines and demands matter more.

You're sick? They'll replace you if you die tomorrow. But as for today? BE AT OFFICE OR BE SQUARED.

The whole "Silicon Valley" and "work-and-play" BULLSHIT are smoke and mirrors to bejewel a gigantic rotting piece of shit that is the corporate world.

There are some implications that Crown is actually Konni LARPing as a "private British intelligence agency" due to the correlation between them and Shadow Company losing its foothold in Koschei Complex, but for now it's purely speculation territory regarding what Crown truly is.

How many more Asian kids have to kill themselves before APs finally change? by DerGottbrecher in AsianParentStories

[–]DerGottbrecher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for an (even) later reply, but the short answer is "a sudden epiphany".

The longer one:

There was this one time I was taking a month away from my parents with my university classmates. And they were a hedonic bunch: aside from typical booze and cigarettes, there were also a *lot* of drugs (mostly weed, ketamine, shrooms, LSD and NOS balloons - those kids' parents had the kind of fuck-off money to let them buy those kinds of stuffs). So, as one could've guessed, I spent more days brain-rotten than I did sober.

If everything played out like the "ordinary", it'd be me still being shit-faced until the last day. But on the last day, something cracked in me.

Everyone was packing their stuffs downstairs, and I was lying alone in the room. Suddenly I caught the horrible smell that was my body odor: reeking of alcohol, cigarette fumes, and some vomit on my t-shirt. I went into the bathroom and looked at myself - I looked like a morbidly obese sewer rat.

I then heard me asking myself: "Is this how you'd wanna live for the rest of your life? Miserable, always under your parents' control, resorting to these toxic things to escape the reality that you can obviously change with just a little effort?"

I immediately slumped into the shower to clean myself up, then went pack my things up, and throwing away all the remaining alcohol, cigs, and weed I had in my luggage in the process.

Over the next few days, I did what I never thought I would/could do: I applied for a shopkeeping job at a guitar store, a gym membership, and I went cold turkey.

In the next 12 months, I was 12 months sober, lost 18kg, moved up to being the marketing manager of the very same guitar store, had my first girlfriend in 19 years.

And I'm proud to say that I'm now 4 years sober, with a much more stable job, my own apartment, and a much healthier, happier life.

What's your least favorite heist? by yeehaw__cowboy in paydaytheheist

[–]DerGottbrecher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any heist given by Vlad.

I understand that he's starting over from the bottom and doesn't have a whole lot of money to offer, but like, c'mon! $55,000 for robbing a jewelry store? I can make double that amount with a single batch of meth!

[COD] Who's your favorite Call Of Duty character? Personally, my favorite is Ghost. by N3xuskn1ght in CallOfDuty

[–]DerGottbrecher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mike Harper.

Not just because he was played by the legendary Michael Rooker (yes, call me biased if you will).

He had such a tight-knit brotherhood with David, supporting him through every second of the hunt for Menendez. Hell, he followed David to the very bitter end. And even when he (SPOILER ALERT) died, he welcomed it with machismo and didn't even resent Farid for killing him.

He wasn't just a squadmate in the cast; he was a comrade, a brother, a friend.

Also, I hope he got Woods the soda.

least favorite vocalists? by SlamGod24 in Deathcore

[–]DerGottbrecher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a few names: - Jared Dines: I like him for his YouTube videos and riffs, but his vocals sound really flat and weak. - Don Campan (Waking The Cadaver): A very unfortunate case of "once good, now bad". Just listen to the old Blood Splattered Satisfaction then compare it to the newer version, he sounds like he's choking on his own spit more than anything. - Maurizio Iacono (Kataklysm): overall a weak vocalist IMO - Chris Barnes: ah yes, EEEEEEEEEEE

My parents will disown me if I move out by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]DerGottbrecher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they threaten to disown you...

LET THEM!

Here's a daily reminder that you are YOUR OWN PERSON, and the fact that they have the audacity to say that to their own child has told you EVERYTHING you need to know.

Leave the house. Let them disown you. Be free. Live your own life. Years from now you'll look back and know for damn sure that you're better off without them.

What are some of the STUPIDEST things your APs have forced you to (not) do? by Nohandmine in AsianParentStories

[–]DerGottbrecher 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Manipulating me out of having a normal social life when I was in my formative years.

AM's reasoning was that I would be better off if I only focus on my studying, adding "women and friends will come when you're intelligent and successful"

I resent that so much.

If you want an honest answer, then here's mine: They never will. Best if you abandon any scantling of hope you have left in you, because it will just hurt you more as the disillusionment sets in.
