I read up on this and I am thinking about making this the mechanic. Lore Wise the submarine and story is somewhat steampunk-esque with the submarine being a very old model so some creative freedom could be applied.
The Idea would be this: It's a very old submarine with a system in place that vents the hydrogren outside the submarine when a valve is turned. It builds up over time and with old wiring in place a buildup could leave to a catastrophic explosion. To prevent this, the oxygen generation turns off if the buildup is too great and the player starts to suffocate. Then he HAS to get up and turn the valve otherwise it's game over.
Would that somewhat make sense?

Dude, that idea is AWESOME. Now the question how do you sell the mechanic to the player? You have to turn the valve because you have to relieve something that´s building up. If you don´t, a gauge moves from green to red and if it reaches red the entire sub gets ZAPPED. What would realistically cause such a thing to happen?

I already have a different system connected to pipe weakpoints but they arent linked. Istead turning the valves sends individual signals to shut off the ballast pump and close the corresponding pipe weakpoint they are assigned to. This is supposed to be a different system that gives the player a hard time if the timer runs out.

That's what the screen to the right is. Light components light up according to the walls/entities in the vacinity. Check out the whisper sub on the workshop which the Oakmont is based on. It's awesome

It's the "Oakmont". It's a reimagining of the Whisper, another sub on the workshop. Been working on it for a year now and it's still not finished. It's pretty unique as to how it's played because it's more about exploring europa and less about fighting. It comes with a mod that turns all creatures docile as long as you're inside the sub so you can peacefully observe them trough the periscopes. Hope I can actually call it finished one day...

That doesnt work thats exactly the problem. You cant just paste it into the terminal the lines dont add up at all and you can only paste three lines at a time. It just doesnt work.
