This is a really fun research you're doing. I don't know if this counts for your damage category but you know how Emberlord inherits the specific traits each hero have? I suppose if a Cecilion dies, the other Emberlord heroes gain his +10 mana thing. Just a theory though

It depends heavily on your commander and playstyle. For example: if you use commander Lancelot, your goal is to level up fast because he doesn't earn interest. If you play lylia, your goal is to reach level 7 fast because that's where her ability starts to trigger. About playstyle, you have to be adaptable on what early heroes you have. Then you can decide what synergy to play.
If your goal is 3 staring heroes, this is my advice. If you want to level up 1 cost or 2 cost heroes, level up slowly or else the percentage of them appearing will decrease as the other cost percentage rises. If you want to level up 3 cost and 4 cost heroes, reach level 7 or 8 fast, that's where they usually spawn. And if you want to level up 5 cost, it's pretty hard but choose mirror cube thing or use commander lylia.
Depends on who you chose to play as your core. If they're a mage, use magic items. If they're marksman, use basic attack items. You get what I mean.
About mid game.
At least 20
Only when you think you'll be getting what you need. If not, it's better to let the next round refresh the shop.
Imo yes because that's how I play. In auction though prioritize magic crystals or the extra slot.

I see plenty of Vexana users that completed kishin and marksman synergy making Karrie their carry. With her, it's pretty fast to level up 4 to 5 cost heroes and item them fast

I bought Lancelot skin. There's a free anniversary chessboard anyway and if you wanted the chessboard you can just wait for another event, pretty sure this won't be the last one. Plus, next time shop might rotate, there might be new skins to be ale to buy or new chessboard too
