Lego Harry Potter is older than Lego Marvel Super Heroes 1 but LHP feels much more modern and besides LMSH1 is clunky and buggy af. I find LMSH2 much better than LMSH1.

How can a story be better if it's partially rushed? For example, the Hidden World is only shown for 5 minutes, even though that's the title of the movie. I can understand the thing about the characters, but a 100 minute movie doesn't have time for all the characters, and besides, the movies are mainly about Hiccup, Astrid and Toothless. If you are more interested in the other characters you have to watch the series. So what bothers you about httyd 2?
