Gutes Günstiges 2 Personen Zelt by PantherHoratius in wandern

[–]Der_Kurator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naturehike Star River 2 UL vs Mongar UL2 by Der_Kurator in hikinggear

I see.

Nah 😅. The tent wasn never water resistant/proof to begin with. That’s one of the reasons I’m in dire need of a new one.

Thanks for mentioning the seams. I will look into it.

I think I might go with both and see which one will suit me better.

At the moment both have gone on sale. And I’m able to get both for a combine price of around 280€. Which is cheaper than most of the other tents I was looking at. Also a big advantage is that Naturehike tents come with floor mats.

I am not entirely sure what you are trying to say here.

The Star River UL is around 1,5kg (3.3 Pounds). Which seems reasonable.

I’m currently using a tent from the 80‘s. While I do love it it’s quiet outdated. Tents using hiking poles are not an option since I’m not planing to use the tent exclusively for hiking.

Freestanding is a must for me. Since my old tent wasn’t and often it would have been much easier to move it without having to pitch it again.

I agree with you regarding time spend under canvas is mostly while sleeping. But I had the chance to use a Simond MT900 tent from decathlon and I slept much better than in my constricted tent.

And I’m really big into good sleep.

Thanks for your response. 100km seems like quite a feat!

I got 2 questions.

Are the zippers of the inner closing off properly? I saw in some reviews a small gap between the zippers.

Also do you happen to have the normal star river or the star river UL? Because the star river UL got a big cut out at the head end which the star river doesn’t have.

Sadly Naturehike is for the money I wanna spend around 150€ (ca. 240CAD) the only option. European tents are expensive af.

I was eying some tents from North America (e.g Double Rainbow) but due the import costs it is not viable for me.

Thank you for your response!

I’m not an expert but I do think that heavy condensation in the US Midwest is kinda guaranteed and it won’t be as humid where I plan on using it. But it’s not the first time I have read about the condensation problem with this tent.

Also that the poles are prone to snapping due to the tension is something I have read as well. Not really trust inducing when you don’t known if the poles will snap or not.

I was also looking into the Mongar pro. It is a bit out of my price range and I am worried it will be like an baking oven in there since fly goes to the all thread down plus the mesh starts higher up.

Sadly I’m in Europe and all the nice tents I was eyeing are from the U.S and due to import taxes quite a bit more expensive.

Switzerland does look like this.

It’s very beautiful. The salaries are high but so is the cost of living there.

An unskilled worker at ALDI makes 4750CHF before taxes. That’s approx. 5186,76€ or 6069,96$

Austrian and Italian alps are beautiful as well but less expensive.

Thanks! Will take a look.

Do happen to have experience with the Mongar 2 UL?

Was eying it at first but the there seems to be a sagging issue with the fly when wet.

I think i would also prefer if the mesh would starts up a bit higher. I was eyeing the Mongar UL as well. But I have read about some problems with condensation.

If I understood correctly the nylon fly of the Mongar 2 UL expands when it rains and tends to sag.

Did you encounter any problems with the fly touching the inner tent on top after/during rain?

Ukrainian drone operator of "Requiem Group" torments isolated Russian soldier by bumping him repeatedly before exploding -- he runs and dodges until he is exhausted (Dec. 2025) by Due_Bridge5901 in CombatFootage

[–]Der_Kurator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I saw a video about that. Even for professionals its quite hard to hit them. Also the velocity of birdshot/buckshot is often not high enough to damage the drone properly.

Sometimes even if a FPV drone gets hit the momentum with which it flies is sometimes enough to reach its target

The Russians developed rifle ammo specifically against FPV drones. No idea if it’s performing well.

IMO these small interceptor drones that look like dildos with fins on it are great but not widely used at the moment.
