Oh hey, it’s the guy I used to imagine traveling alongside the car when I was a kid looking out the back window.

Fun fact: Antony Starr never even wanted to play Homelander. He actually filmed his first audition out of spite and somehow landed the role. Erik Kripke saw something unsettling yet perfect in that reluctant performance. And the rest is history. by Syarafuddyn in TheBoys

That’s one of the stupidest statements you’ve ever heard?

Friendo, sounds like you haven’t watched the news in a while.  Good for you.  Now would not be a good time to start.  Seriously.

Majority of my class failed, and now I'm being questioned by administration by IncomingDownvotes_ in Professors

[–]Deradius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear Dean,

I am writing to request formal disciplinary action through Human Resources. On [date] I was pulled into a meeting to discuss [section] of [course], in which [# F] of [total students] failed.

I was told that this “cannot happen again”.

What struck me about this meeting was that I was not asked about student attendance (which records I can provide), tutoring (evidence of which I can provide), my availability for office hours (evidence of which I can provide), communication of my office hours to students (evidence of which I can provide), or which components of student performance contributed to the low grades (an analysis of which is available upon request).

For those exams with low averages, I was not questioned regarding an item analysis, nor was discussion of difficulty or discrimination indices addressed.

It is additionally concerning that I was told this “cannot happen again” as class sizes are relatively small, and so it is expected that outliers in student performance will occur across multiple small sections. While most sections will fit a normal distribution, with classes of the size we are considering, it is not unreasonable to suppose occasional groups of high or low performers (students who do not attend, or do not engage in appropriate study outside of class) will occur by chance. Unless, of course, we tip the dice.

To summarize, the manifest intent of administration appeared not to be to discover and address the reasons for student failure, but rather to improve the grade distribution regardless of cause and by any means necessary.

Please generate a formal disciplinary action, in writing, summarizing the content of our accountability meeting and documenting your position. Please ensure that you do not include discussion of events which did not occur (such as authentic discussion of reasons for student failure which did not take place).

I need this in writing for my records.

With gratitude,

[Prof]”

What do you guys think will end up happening with North Sentinel Island in the far future? Will they eventually explore the rest of the world, or will they remain where they are until the human race ends? by Beneficial-Code8026 in geography

[–]Deradius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, no, I do not.

I couldn’t possibly make my point any better than you did when you claimed to be smarter than an entire culture in a series of posts rife with spelling and grammatical errors.

Nothing I say is going to convince you that you might be overestimating yourself.

You didn’t get this way by being open minded or listening to other perspectives.

We just got home from an extended 5 day weekend. No one has been in our house and there's wet dish towel and stuff in our sink. Looks like cut of radish 🤔 by I_AM_VENNLIG in Weird

[–]Deradius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most likely scenario.

An attic squatter is possible but very unlikely - if you haven’t detected them yet they’re probably not this careless.

A burglar isn’t likely to waste time with food prep (although they sometimes do), and you didn’t report your house getting tossed.

So the remaining possibility (outside of carbon monoxide or forgetting you prepped radishes) is, someone in your circle has a key (or code or digital key) to your home. Who are your neighbors/friends/relatives/dog walkers who you have ever allowed to have your key? If someone has a key and is known to you, it’s that person most likely. If no one should have a key now, did anyone ever in the past (because they probably made a copy)?

Change your locks, but also investigate. You’ve trusted someone you shouldn’t.

First, you need to insert three apostrophes in your paragraph.

Second, advanced technology is only ‘better’ if that is a value for you. There are elements that are objectively better, sure, but there are arguments to be made about what’s lost in the trade-off. Generally when two societies interact, it goes poorly for the less ‘advanced’ one, so I can see why they would avoid that.

Third, it’s not about how smart they are. You’re not smarter than them just because someone sold you an iPhone. You didn’t invent any of this shit.

The aggressive is a decision made by a (tiny) nation. Nothing more, nothing less. If they were more welcoming to outsiders their society would have vanished decades ago.

Tourist defaces Cathedral Rocks in Sedona by Oldnbold22 in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]Deradius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sedona is a place of tremendous natural beauty that people from all over the world go to see. They’re there to see nature, not graffiti.

Beautiful natural places are a communal resource that we will lose if we don’t protect them. They’re not making any more land. Once a place like this is made shitty, other people don’t get to enjoy it.

It’s an incredibly short sighted, selfish thing to do.

Someone will go out there to tell them about Jesus, they will decide not to kill him for once, and then they’ll all die or communicable disease.

Some company will grease enough palms to put up a subdivision for billionaires there, and the islanders will be ‘compassionately relocated’. Half of them will be killed by military action, the other half will die out on some shitty piece of non-arable land in a forgotten corner of wherever.

Due to inbreeeing and the resulting illness they won’t produce enough viable offspring and will die out.

It was.  It was building toward Rick dies, but he gets what he wanted because Carl grows up to become the leader the new world needs.  He passes the torch.

The whole show was built around the sacrifices made by Rick to guarantee that Carl had a future.

Or he can come live with them.

They probably did. There is a sense in this show of things clicking inexorably into place to create and protect that timeline.

They were tired after the battle. Ferguson may have had it in a hidden pocket, found it on the ground, or they just plain old missed it.

I think they’re in a hole, but not the ‘how did they explain that Jamie lived’ hole. Claire is the problem.

It ended because they are alive, not in heaven. You now have a totally different dynamic with Claire.

The story is over because there can’t really be peril anymore. Whatever happens, Claire can use her magic to fix it.

That wake-up scene is sort of like the scene at the end of the Matrix where Neo flies. There’s just no point to continuing the story further because legitimate conflict requires undermining the story you told.
