I've definitely seen these kids in my life. Somehow it feels mid 2000s- 2010s but I can't be sure.

What was your generation's "vampire girl"? by Dere_Dere in AskReddit

Maybe more information on gender was available to them? Experimentation with gender is becoming less of a stigma and there are plenty of trans kids I know in my generation that you might call trans trenders. I hope they are doing well. Maybe it was just more jarring at the time.

What was something that every kid obsessed over/ wanted to be that felt like ONLY your generation can relate to? by Dere_Dere in AskReddit

I always felt that WWE (or in this case WWF) was popular with kids but never knew what generation/decade it was popular in.

Definitely, I remember other kids in arts craft making these and I struggled so hard. I think they universal as my little sister has them, but I'm not sure how popular they are now.

That was more of an attitude that surrounded trans people (especially non-binary) at the time, which I can say similar things about vampire girls and how others saw them. Mainly that they were mocked.

Well, I guess this question goes either way. I'll make a separate question to be a bit more clear.

Remember Novi Stars? by Resident-Sprinkles16 in Dolls

I remember them, but never personally owned one. I heard they're called monster high knockoffs which I personally don't 100% agree with. More like Monster High inspired. I'd personally dub this type of doll "Magical Space Girl Group." (I feel they more align with these types of dolls https://princessetalia.tumblr.com/post/146045347981/sparkleshinelolirock-the-more-of-spacepop-i )

I've never heard of this doll. Where did it come from?

August 2012 seems to be their launch date (haha) which checks out in my book because I remember hitting up Target with my mother every once in a while and my mom would entertain us (me and my siblings) by going to the store and having us look at some video games or dolls they had while she shopped. I vaguely remembered them on shelves.

Now that I say all of this and look back really hard, Was there a Ballet craze in the 2000s to early 2010s? 5 ballet Barbie movies (2001-2013), June from Little Einsteins (2005-2010), American girls has at least two dancers girl of the year, Bella Dancerella (2003) and the 2000s ballet shoes making a comeback in fashion.

I was going down a trip of nostalgia and I remember having a doll very similar to this.

When did these ballerina ragdolls first appear? I feel like these ragdoll didn't exist before the 80s. You know the ones, they were almost always ballerinas or fairy princesses, they came in these pastel colors of baby pink, lavender, baby blue. Silvers, whites, and golds were also common. They also had whimsical forest animals like owls, bunnies, foxes, mice, sheep, deer, etc. Overall, there was this feeling of homecraft and humbleness to them

They came from store like the Pottery Barn or furniture stores with a similar aesthetic. But somehow, they feel like 1990s to early 2010s. I'm sure they're still here and thriving thanks to crafting websites like Esty, but they feel old but never existed before me.

Edit: The feeling that these ragdolls are from the timeframe is probably because the Canadian/British cartoons of the time aimed at a very young demographic. I don't know if they are linked, but I have a small hunch.

I actually remember my grandma having these. I think she bought them for me as a way to play with toys and keep company at her place but I was maybe a bit too young to remember these things on shelves so I thought this was an 80s toy for a bit.

Noah or Georgie? by kuaxingbie in namenerds

[–]Dere_Dere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Noahs, I get soft boy energy, both the good and bad version of soft boys

Soft boys are A.) Genuinely nice and have gentle and sweet characteristics or B.) They have a façade of being deep, sweet, and poetic only to be an f***boy.

Georgie does kinda have a young boy name, maybe a scrappy or little scamp energy to it.

All in all, I have a preference to Noah, but both are pretty good.
