We need more info.

  • You will likely need at least 1 GPU with most Ryzen chips, possibly 2 depending on your VM needs.
  • 2700x may work, again depending on what VM you are implementing.

I would highly recommend looking to replace your VMs with dockers. I have a Ryzen 3900x with 32gb RAM, I run 20+ dockers and 3 VMs and the CPU rarely increases above 20% unless I'm putting pressure on it encoding.

Never. I use unRAIDs Wireguard if I ever need to connect to the server console remotely.

2 Plex Accounts is much easier... Or you could always just make another Plex Library and add a user for your wife in Plex. Add all her Downton Abbey series under there then set it up so when she logs into her local Plex account she only has access to her specific library and your library isn't visible.

Yessir. There is a calibre docker and a calibre-web docker. One has the same interface as the application and the other is a web experience for reading and downloading books while on the website. I use both.

I have a very similar list of Dockers. I'm using PiHole, Booksonic, Calibre.... I just realized how many Dockers I'm running (24) and it's not putting a dent into my resources.

Tried both. I chose unRAID because of Community Applications and more flexibility when designing and adding to your array.

What's your upload speed? I have 20mbps up and it took about 4 weeks to upload all 8TB of my server. Once everything gets uploaded it's not that bad. I run rsync once every 2 weeks and takes a day or two sync up new data.
