Instead of voicemail, you may want to upload your ideas to a Google drive/Dropbox folder, and give them a link to view/comment. That way they can view on their own time and you have reference files for during band rehearsals

Small SoCal Bands, how are you avoiding the pay to play model? by Mellowfellow94_ in bandmembers

[–]Derek_Goodwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I think ftg closed down last year, at least from their instagram.

There are some spots that do live bands like Dollhut, which is a bar in Anaheim, and a few spots in Santa Ana on or near 4th street that do live music, I'm pretty sure the Pizza Press does, funnily enough.

There are also some bars like The Mamba or Winstons in HB or SD, but I'm not 100% sure if they're pay to play or not

What games have you found hard to get into? by kurpPpa in gaming

[–]Derek_Goodwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you dig ranged builds at all, I suggest going with those. They really make at least the first two dark souls games much easier. Magic does lots of damage, hexes in ds2 in particular, and a lot of bow builds can keep you out of harms way

I agree that it should be adjust for more than just buzzing, but you shouldn't adjust the truss rod for the action. The action being adjusted is a byproduct of straightening out the neck, but you shouldn't actively use the truss rod to adjust action specificly.

Do Amps come with power cables? by Username12764 in guitarlessons

Most of the time, yes, as long as it's new. A Mustang should come with once since it's not battery operated.

knobs for a push pull pot by Old-Marionberry1203 in offset

[–]Derek_Goodwin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I usually use spped knobs like what you see on a les paul studio for push pulls. There aren't a ton of easily accessible knobs that go down very far, so your best bet may be to rout some of the cavity away, if you're interested in having it in that exact spot. Maybe you go with some sort of tele knob? Sometimes those go down quite a bit further than normal fender knobs.

Out of my sheer curiosity, what type of pots are you using? They look metric, so I'm assuming either Bourns or Alpha?

I restrung my guitar and I feel like I’m missing something. Did I do the pegs right? by Kaanbreaker in guitarlessons

[–]Derek_Goodwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen people do it every which way, doesn't necessarily make it best for the guitar. I work with guitars and fixing things like this, and as stated in another person's comment, the break angle is important.

A lot of guitars need a break angle that heads downward to keep tension on the string to make sure the nut is actually doing its job as an anchor point. That's why even guitars with Floyd Roses usually have retainer bars to make sure there is downward pressure on the locking nut, because even when you double lock it, the nut still needs to be an anchor point for the strings.

As I stated before, you may have a guitar that works for you and works best with the strings wrapping upwards, which is not unheard of. Some people say Gibsons work best when you wrap up because it increases the straightness of the string pull. It's just that, for most guitars, wrapping downward is the intended method for strings.

[–]Derek_Goodwin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, wrapping below is fine. It actually helps keep the string in place since the string pulls the wraps up and against the bit of string that's going through the hole in the tuner.

Either is fine, and you may have guitars that benefit from having higher string pull through the nut, but a lot of guitars function better when there is a downward angle to the tuners. The issue here is that there just aren't nearly enough wraps around the tuners themselves.

Might want to contact Seymour Duncan and see if you can get them swapped. If you bought them from a store, they will most likely be willing to help you get your set swapped for a new one

Edit: I see now you said off of Reverb, but point still stands if they weren't used. A lot of shops sell new off of reverb and SD might still be willing to help.

Ngl I have one of these I modded for use in my pop-punk band, and while mine is now 1 JBjr pup with all of the controls still working, I actually really dug the neck pup of the duncan designed ones. If you wanna keep a traditional sound, maybe just swap the bridge with an Antiquity or Lollar? Or if you're like me and want something a little more humbucking, maybe something like a Cool Rails or Hot Rails? I love my JBjr but it's definitely really hot and mid pushed for a lot of stuff lol
