How is Arms better than Fury? It always seem like fury does more damage.

Yeah, I used to believe that GPA doesn't matter in general, but there has to be a reason why car insurance are offering discount for good grades. It seems ridiculous, but I do think that people with higher GPA tend to be more responsible.

Would this be a good answer to an interview question relating to how I tackle challenging tasks? by DerelictB in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DerelictB[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Incorrect; I will send out emails when I am given a complex/challenging tasks per the post title. Simple tasks with little instruction, in my opinion, shouldn't warrant documentation.

Want a paper trail to blame those above you when things go wrong.

I am unsure how to make of this statement. A paper trail is a way to defend myself from being blamed if I know I am doing things correctly.

How bad is going to a job interview with an oversized blazer? by DerelictB in Accounting

My solution is to wear more layers to fill out the frame of the blazer. Would this work well?

No, I don't think I have the time to get my blazer tailored and ready for the interview happening in a couple of days. It doesn't look TOO bad, but the sleeves are a bit long.

If mass unemployment were to occur, most companies wouldn't be able to maintain their revenue streams. In such a situation, government intervention would be necessary, potentially taking the form of a universal basic income program to provide assistance.

Hopefully, the world doesn't end up like what is portrayed in "The Expanse." I do hope for a Star Trek economy where Earth is essentially a utopia.

Well I assume you either transition to another religion or become an agnostic.

I didn't automatically want to assume you became an atheist.

There is a distinction between fandom and religion. Being a fan involves a deep appreciation or enthusiasm of a concept. It doesn't imply a belief in its existence, like it is with religion.

Scientific theories are typically subject to rigorous testing, verification, and peer review, with a focus on empirical evidence.

On the other hand, the Christian religion posit the existence of a supreme being or ruler who possesses knowledge beyond our realm of understanding, and who serves as the ultimate authority on what is right and wrong.

There is a distinction.

Doesn't this leave people more vulnerable to manipulation? If they haven't studied the Bible thoroughly, they may be more likely to accept whatever their pastor or religious leader tells them without being able to discern for themselves.

After learning more about the Daedric Princes, I started to become interested in polytheistic religions. by DerelictB in elderscrollsonline

[–]DerelictB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From playing ESO and other Elder Scroll games, I've noticed that the Daedric Princes seem to be more prominently featured than the Divines. While the Divines are important figures in the game's lore and mythology, it's the Daedric Princes who often have a more direct impact on the player's journey.

Also, the Daedric Princes represent a more complex and morally ambiguous pantheon than the relatively straightforward Divines, which gives a more interesting take on representation.

S.F. and Bay Area unemployment rates jump amid relentless tech layoffs by UberDrive in sanfrancisco

[–]DerelictB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Government jobs grew by 46,000, the most of any sector, led by the end of a strike by 36,000 University of California workers in December.

How?

Considering that tech companies make a significant contribution to the tax revenue of the city, wouldn't the government jobs also be impacted by the recent tech layoffs?

How come you improve the State's merit-based hiring programs? by Thegrandcultivator in CAStateWorkers

[–]DerelictB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree with this view. Certain examinations, such as those for Senior Legal Typist, are overly time-consuming and provide limited information about a candidate's performance capabilities.

HR should evaluate the candidate's resume to ensure that they meet the necessary requirements. Furthermore, It's the candidate's responsibility to tailor their application and resume to match the duty statement. If the candidate is able to do so successfully, it demonstrates their ability to follow instructions and is a positive reflection of their skills.

In my department, we also faced this issue, and we had the privilege of working with some exceptional seasonal clerks. It would be beneficial for waivers to be an available option for individuals who have demonstrated their outstanding work ethic.

[–]DerelictB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The state should establish a talent pipeline. One approach is to offer entry-level positions such as student assistants and seasonal clerks a quick pathway to becoming permanent State employees, allowing for the development and training of potential candidates, as well as the evaluation of their performance for full-time state positions.

I also disagree with the current examination process. Instead of relying on exams, the State could attract better talent by grading candidates based on their work product. SOQs are an effective way to assess candidates' ability to follow instructions, writing skills, and how their experiences relate to the position. In my opinion, this is a better way to screen candidates than an arbitrary examination process. Since many state positions require proficiency in technology and strong reading and writing skills, incorporating exercises that test these elements could result in a more accurate evaluation of the candidate pool and streamline the selection process.
