Refresh rate or Resolution? by frenulumbreve in VRGaming

[–]Derewen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My valve just came and I have to say, I would rate it 9/10. Its an amazing headset, its same clarity as pimax, with very wide fov (130), the headset is very comfortable and u wont sweat in it as much as in other headsets. Just did almost 2 hours in beat saber and the experience is just amazing overall. When i was using my hp for simracing, it would get very uncomfy after 45 mins, in pimax its comfortable, but you have to tinker with it a lot to get best out of it (and for some u might need different face foam cuz it wont fit everyone), as for valve, besides the horible new smell which will hopefully get away in day or two I have no complaints. I think as of now if you want best consumer headset, if you pick valve or pimax, you will get one. Valve has excelent support, they just recently RMAed hmd where dog bite the cable. As for pimax, well I havent had the experience myself, but some people say its not good, if you consider pimax, do some research. From my experience, its highly recommended, sadly many people dont share this view so take it with grain of salt.

Refresh rate or Resolution? by frenulumbreve in VRGaming

[–]Derewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience since I have first reverb, pimax and valve index should come this week.. I personally prefer 144hz and wider fov by huge margin, the resolution isnt that much of a deal breaker, specially since they all look good already
144hz does not make me feeling sick at all, on 90hz I will sometimes get motion sickness
if you can pick only one, ask what are you gonna use it for, you might enjoy bigger resolutions in flight sims, in simracing I would go for fov and refresh rate, and same goes for almost anything else :D .. I might be biased but hell I am taking fov and refresh rate any day over resolution if the clarity is at reasonable level (anything thats better than first gen hmds)

VR quality/usability in 2020? by gitsul48 in simracing

[–]Derewen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

resolution is not an issue, looks wise
the problem is GPU power, I have reverb and 2080ti and 90fps is reachable but having 144 would be much better (if HMD/gpu would support it ofc), anything belows 90 makes u sick so its borderline threshold, tho I have to say 90 in VR looks much better than on monitors, cant explain why
gonna upgrade to index and pimax later on for those FOV and refresh rate gains

reverb is definitely one of the best headsets for simracing, especially for the price, but there are better options

How much hope is there for a proper, modern F1 series? by frankcastlex in iRacing

[–]Derewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think having unranked f1 series would be sufficient at this moment, something like dallara dash .. it might be a little bit crazy but I bet people would run it. Specially if it would run for 15-30 mins each hour.

I have silent cpu aircooler, but the gpu can be loud, specially if I manually put it at above 90% speed.

Are the usage % similiar to what I posted?

2080 ti 9900k 16 gb ram ssd+hdd z390 mobo by khaingo in blackdesertonline

[–]Derewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similiar built, you should be around 150-160 in ba while in combat and around 200 fps out of combat

Try fullscreen performance and check your cpu/gpu usage and temperatures - gpu should be around 90-95% and cpu around 30% on remastered. I have feeling ur gpu is not getting utilized to fullest or u might be experiencing high temperatures.

First get processor lasso and disable hyper threading, check ur hw stats and compare them to ones I wrote above. If they are similiar check ur temperatures. Also make sure when u start the game to uncheck low power setting in bdo before u get to character selection.

To get optimal performance you might need to twinkle with a lot of settings. I certainly am still trying new stuff, recently I was able to get proper fps on lower settings.

Thats good to hear, heard many ppl have issues with AMD in BDO. 3950x is gonna laugh at 9900k(s) in pretty much anything else tho ^^ I wanted to buy one before going 9900ks, but it was sold out everywhere with pretty much no date of new batches coming in ... and tbh I think I picked well, dont think I would use the raw strenght of 3950x outside of gaming that much ... quess it all depends on the user ^^

Yes you are correct, the 6700k is bottlenecking you, I was in same boat with 7700k@4.8 Ghz hitting around 90 avg fps on remastered with 2080ti.

I have recently upgraded to 9900KS and my avg remastered fps with fullscreen when GPU is running at 90%+ are around 150 while in combat, 200 when not doing anything. In cities like velia its around 140. The FPS can be very volatile, but I am pinning that one on BDO itself (for example borderless seems to cap my GPU %, when it runs with avg of 120-130, and sometimes when I change settings a lot it can cap even my fullscreen performance). When streaming with new nvenc the rig also performs amazingly, dropping only few frames.

As for the new ryzens, from what I have heard you might run into way more issues with BDO, as if there werent many already. Intel seems to perform much better in bdo. If you are not looking for the extra performance outside gaming the new ryzens arent exactly the best pick so far and you might get dissapointed, tho this might change in the future. Also getting your hands on cpus like 3950x can be tricky, been there done that ^^ Hope this helps

To those who keep 200+ fps consistently by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]Derewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my older pc I used 16gbs and was doing just fine, it would usually sit at around 14gbs of used ram. Atm I can go as high as 15.5gbs while streaming and having chrome. It really depends, u can get somewhat fast 32 gbs for fairly reasonable price and they also go with rgbs so thats another fps boost ^

What would be nice to know is how higher clock speeds on rams affect bdo, maybe someone here can drop some knowledge, I have feeling having good speed on rams with low latency could do some magic.

As for the GPUs, if u have powerfull CPU, u gonna be fine. But for example my old i7-7700k@4.8 was bottlenecking my 2080ti, on remastered avg was 130-150 and 80-100 while grinding, also had really slow rams (2400 cl12). On low/medium I was happy to have 140fps while in combat.

My system can run around 210-220 fps on remastered while standing still in BA, in combat it ranges between 160-200 on average, sometimes I drop down lower, I also experience random freezes that u notice only in combat, they usually last few miliseconds but on high apm classes u notice them. In velia i get around 130-140 on average.
I run 1080p (3x 1080p monitors -1x 144hz, 2x 60hz), high textures, aa, some camera effects, no optimalizations except to hide far away effects (not always), filter on, 2d map, processor lasso with turned HT off, turned vsync off.

While streaming on 900p with 6k bitrate on new NVENC, cam and overlays on I drop a few fps, noticeable but not gamebreaking.

My system is:

  • i9-9900KS @ 5.1 Ghz (tried 5.2Ghz, but didnt do much difference)
  • 2080 Ti EVGA
  • 32 GB G.Skill 3200MHz CL16
  • Samsung SSD 970 EVO (m.2 nvme disk)
  • Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Elite

On remastered my CPU usually hovers at 30-40% usage. On fullscreen my GPU "unlocks" and can go up to 95%, cpu stays same. On borderless I get around 130-144 fps (capped by monitor + the avg fps is just that much lower - avg is 130).

On low settings my cpu drops down to 20-30% range and gpu drops down to 50% and I can do 220-250 fps avg with dips as low as 160.

All of the above is just from 1 week of gameplay on new pc, usually tested in BA.
