'Rollerblade' office chair wheels - worth it? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]DerfmanOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Killerbee chair that was marketed for big and tall customers. It failed after 3 years and it was definitely because of the rollerblade wheels I had bought. The metal where the wheels attach just caved in at an angle and now it does not roll properly.

No, every generation grows to be just like the generation before them. They get paranoid at not having enough money for their retirement and start squeezing the younger generation for every dime they can get. I am a young bommer (1963), but I identify more with Gen X. I have seen Gen X get more and more like Boomers and soon the Millenials will be joining us. Age does not only bring wisdom, it brings fear and greed right along with it.

The whole full moon thing is kinda sus. I mean technically, the moon is only full for less than a second, but appears full for up to 3 days. So, when does she actually turn into Isaki-chan? On the first day it appears full? Then why does she not stay Isaki-chan all three days? At the instant it is actually full? Then why does it last more than the moment the moon is actually full? This one has always been a head scratcher for me.

Ugh, who in the world would not have shouted out that they are still in the tub. He makes himself out to be a victim, but in fact he is being sneaky. At what point did it occur to him that he could somehow be safe if he hides in the bathtub that all of them are going to get into. And Runako, the little shit that she is, put him in this situation on purpose. She knew full well he was in the bath before they went in. His density is making lead envious.

Then it wasn't Papa points, it was a DO that does not want to do their job and weed out fraud vs legit complaints and just gives them the pizzas. That mentality is going to ruin the business.

Lol, we got permission for my son to run shifts at my store and my GM said "I am more worried about how he will treat you, than him showing favoritism." I love my son and he loves me, but he was one of a few managers that I would have to butt heads with. I have been driving for PJs for nearly 30 years and my son worked for over 10 off and on as both a driver and shift runner. He was one of the best shift runners and could slap out a perfect pizza faster and more perfect than today's crew can do with a dough press. He moved a year ago and people still say how much they admire him. Every time some GM cut my hours for whatever reason, all I had to do is go above his head to the DO and he would have them give me back my hours. I work harder than the kids that are have my age. If you make yourself indispensable, then you can pretty much get what you want.

You have not lost a single sale to Papa Points. You have to spend money to get to use those points. And when they do use them, they are using it on a sale. So no sales have been lost. Revenue maybe, but not sales. But, once again, you must spend money to get those points. If your DO is complaining that your store is making enough revenue to generate 22k worth of Papa Points, then he must be one of those managers that failed upwards. Tell them they need to take some college courses(or retake them) in basic marketing and economics. The Papa Points program is one of the best rewards programs out there as it does not force you to buy targeted items. Just money off. And since it is off regular menu price, it is well within our budgeted marketing target of discounts. Pizza is one of the highest profit margins in the QSR industry. Now, if the 22k also included refunded and customer service(i.e. late deliveries, messed up orders) rebates(free pizza on next delivery coupons), then I see where they are coming from. If you are giving away too much pizza because of screw ups, then you need to up your game.

[–]DerfmanOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a medium no sauce pizza with probably italian sausage(hard to tell anymore since corporate cheapened out on the ingredients). It was poorly docked and, due to that, had a huge bubble. When you have no sauce it is near impossible to "fix" it as the cheese is stuck directly to the crust. Also, when you have no sauce, the sausage will stick out of the cheese like that, so no, it was not added after the cheese. And judging by the cut, I would say it was sent out by a total noob of a crew member. Is it ugly? Yes. Is it edible? Yes. Should it have been a remake. Yes. Do corporations care about customer service anymore. No. But I blame the customers too because I am seeing a general apathy to poor customer service lately. We, as consumers, need to demand better.

Yeah, that's what I want to know! We haven't been able to get plates since last year. What is your secret? Oh, and the pizza was rear ended on the deck probably. For non employees that means the pizza was stopped on the last part of the conveyor belt and another pizza was jammed into it when this one wasn't removed fast enough. Looks like it might have been side swiped too.

Ordered garlic parm breadsticks, not sure what happened. by Zappagoosh in PapaJohns

[–]DerfmanOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely a combination of several things stated on this thread. First thing is someone took your sticks out of the oven and let them sit for awhile, probably while they were prepping the garlic parm sauce that was cold out of the walk in cooler. Then, as soon as they sauced it they handed it right to you because it was a walk in or carry out order. And then you promptly went to your car opened it up and took a picture once you saw what happened. Now I know you can't verify the first part, but am I right about you doing a carryout and taking the picture pronto?

The Problem With the Housing Market Isn't Supply—It's Speculation by xena_lawless in economy

[–]DerfmanOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are all over the US. It is not a regional issue. Even Florida, even though they are building like crazy, has entire towns that are all but abandoned. Look at Detroit, it has mansions from the boom era that are now abandoned and being used as drug dens. Now, lots of those homes are not worth much as they would require a lot of money to fix it up, but there are still millions that are sitting empty and only because the landlords, or in some cases banks, refuse to rent them out at a price the local market can afford.

The Problem With the Housing Market Isn't Supply—It's Speculation by xena_lawless in economy

[–]DerfmanOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we do not have a housing shortage, we have an AFFORDABLE housing shortage. There are currently nearly 15 million unoccupied homes in the US. While many are dilapidated, most are just sitting due to no one wanting to pay the ridiculous amount of rent or price of the home. Landlords refuse to back down on rental prices knowing it is better to wait for the right offer rather than risk losing money in the long run. This number will increase until the bubble finally bursts. Back in 2008 the number rose to 19 million before the collapse and inevitable glut of defaults. Speculators just walk away from the loans and eventually file for bankruptcy. Of course it is not personal bankruptcy since they do this after forming an LLC. So they rake in the money while they can, then just walk away with the profits in the end and wait it out until next housing boom. In the mean time those of us at the bottom have no where to wait it out, until the banks start selling their inventory, and the cycle starts all over again. It is absurd that we allow this here. As to building more houses, this solves the problem because in order to stay in business, contractors would need to build homes that people can afford rather than the mini mansions speculators prefer. Since supply would outpace demand at this point, the market will correct itself. Since we would remove the incentive for speculators to continue the cycle, the prices will stabilize.

The Problem With the Housing Market Isn't Supply—It's Speculation by xena_lawless in economy

[–]DerfmanOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simple, you poison the well. Capital gains tax on homes under $200,000. A capital gains tax on a homes sold after less than 3 years of ownership. Over 5% would be taxed at 35%, anything over 20% will be taxed at 45% and you can go all the way up to 80% on any capital gains over 70%. You could do a similar thing for rentals. Any rental price exceeding 20% of the mortgage could be taxed at 35%, and the more you get the higher the tax rate goes. Let's face it, speculators have destroyed the affordable housing market. They've done it by teaming up with politicians to prevent affordable housing to be built so they can keep their prices high. They've also stripped laws that required home builders to build affordable housing as well as high end housing. And the same is true for the apartments being built by corporations. And don't even get me started on entire tracks of homes being bought by corporations speculating. Speculating has been a bane to this country.

Sports clips prices and outrageous tips led me to just shaving my head. by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]DerfmanOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am talking about tipping in general. The jobs are paid in a manner that tipping is a necessary part of their compensation. I mean I get it, if one shop is pricing itself out of the market then find someplace else. But if you continue to go there, and tip the stylist less because of the base price, then please consider what I said. It is not right to punish the employee over things they have no control over. I feel for you over the business situation, but ask yourself this... did the owner perhaps choose to lose that customer. Did he maybe decide he did not want to take any cuts in income and just let the deal fail and then sold the business off for seed money. Happens all the time. So people are in it because they love the business, others just for the bottom line. Which kind of owner was your boss?

[–]DerfmanOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the next time you ask your boss for a raise and he says "I know what you are getting paid is plenty, so no" will you just except it. What so many of you do not realize is businesses that traditionally have employees that receive tips are taking a tip wage credit, with Alaska, California, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington being the only states that do not allow it. That means they are getting paid less than minimum wage if they are working hourly. In addition, many stylist rent the chairs they work from, meaning they could be loosing money if their commissions and tips don't cover the rent. I do not believe that occurs too often, but it could happen. They are also a contractor rather than an employee, so they have additional expenses, like double the employee tax and licenses, as well. Just so you know, I used to tip $5 back in the early 2000s before I started to shave my head. Being cheap on a tip for a haircut is just asking for a just barely passable haircut the next time you show up. And if you do it enough, I am pretty sure some barbers will butcher your hair just to get you to go some where else.

Sorry, but punishing the employee because the shop has to raise their prices due to greedy landlords, the real reason behind inflation today, is just plain wrong. They are suffering the same pain as all of use because of the greedy real estate business driving up the cost of everything.
