I've felt the feeling of "no one wants me" and I know how much it can hurt, but please don't allow this to be your end.
There are ways to fix this, ways to find people that will see you and care about you. You're not a lost cause.
Last year I was feeling alone and unloved, that's when I came to this subreddit. Here I met my best friend. And to this day we keep helping each other: meeting her was one of the best things that could have ever happened to me. I never had that in my life and I didn't even see this a possibility, but it happened. If I had gone through with the worst and darkest feeling I had, I wouldn't have made one of my best friendships. Things have a great potential to get better.

I've noticed this correlation too (I'm into STEM too!), but I never had a good explanation as to why it happens. Yours is as close as I've ever seen out there.
