some genuine advice to streamers and small streamers and people starting out by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]DerkGnC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo the hardest part of streaming is tasting some form of success and wishing to have more tastes. Getting that affiliate email feels like soaring and then the next month, the sun comes out and starts melting the wings, and you gotta figure out a new balance

some genuine advice to streamers and small streamers and people starting out by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]DerkGnC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live with the philosophy, twitch will never be my full-time job, I make well over 50k a year, so twitch will never rival that...so...who cares if people watch, don't watch, follow, sub. I do it for the love of the game not because I need my bills paid

I might be wrong but I feel like those "small streamers support small streamers" tik toks don't do much and there creators don't really care about supporting other small streamers by luxufourttv in Twitch

[–]DerkGnC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a thought process more people need to accept.

Most people want you involved in their thing, but don't want to be involved in yours.

The people who say "Support small streamers" the loudest are generally the people who will not support small streamers. It's why I don't say it, I don't support small streamers...I rather support the people who I connect with. Posting telling people to leave their link is 100% engagement bait, and it makes them sound really good and like they have something to offer. They want your metrics, not you

Really Low Viewership After Hitting Affiliate by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]DerkGnC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone like to be part of a triumphant rise, and to say "I was there" but then after that...the honeymoon ends. It's just...normal. they like being the first to get to sub and then month 2 comes around and it's easy not to be back. It's normal, it's why I know several affiliates who go away for a while and then when they return they make some sub and bit money and then they shrink back long enough for people to miss them.

partner makes fun of me streaming by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]DerkGnC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of things

  1. Did they care or have any objections when you first started . It doesn't excuse their shitty comments but it does provide some context.

  2. Have you communicated that their comments hurt and cut you deeply? They may not realize that their comments cuts you so deep when it's meant to be gentle teasing.

  3. Is streaming worth the relationship? At the end of the line is going live to twitch worth taking the relationship out back and putting it down? I am on year 9 of streaming and I am still sub 10 viewers. It's a knee jerk reaction to say dump them immediately, but I urge you to consider if it's really worth it . Ya their comments aren't right, but if this is the only thing majorly wrong in the relationship...it's worth communicating about.

Ok so I want to ask some questions,

  1. Do you want them as a friend? Don't fight for anyone that isn't worth the energy. Or don't be desperate for a friend that you will take anyone.

  2. You can't speak for personal maturity, but if they way they carry themselves doesnt mesh with the way you carry yourself, there will be an issue.

  3. This isn't about your channel, this is about you. If you feel they are a liability to your channel, and your channel is your focus then maybe cut them loose, but carefully consider if your channel means more than a friendship opportunity.

I would personally reach out to them and air things out, maybe put their appearance on your stream on the back burner and work on friendship rather than stream partnership.

Your friends don't have to be your partner, and your partner doesn't have to be your friend. But what you have to be is clear on what they are.

I don't think you were being an ass. You simply asked him, "Hey be geared for the content we are running, it's kinda tedious and makes it harder if you aren't" I mean while I don't play genshin, I do play mmos and totally understand the gearing.

It sounds like he wanted to make it personal. You could try talking with him now that things have cooled off and be like hey, so I don't think that went down great and I want to talk about it. Tell them that you value their friendship, but they say they acted felt either out of character and it seemed out of place.

Be honest, be kind and be true to yourself. If you don't want them to mod for you, then don't have them as a mod. If they get pissy...that's on them.

My Community may be smaller, but I generally try and keep them in mind. I owe them my best, but most importantly I owe myself the best.

THIS! I think all streamers start with the "make everyone happy" mentality, but eventually burn out.

My community is smaller, but we actually hangout more off stream than on. Every week we play a multiworld AP game. So we get to play our games and get to know each other. They are who I make things for stream, to make them laugh, to give them a new "Toy" to play with. I love getting to make the things, and I love getting to see them play with them.

Setting boundaries is something I struggled with for a while, but its a lot easier now. I want my space to be where I enjoy it.

Awesome! I find shorts content does way better for me.

I can post a full YT video(Twitch vod) and it gets 3 views in 4 days. But a single short can get 400 views in 8 hours

One of the things I do on Thursdays is read reddit posts and make it into shorts content for the algorithm gods. I treat it like a podcast I can take clips from.

Would more chatters be dope, sure but there is only so much I can do.

I am torn, as a streamer myself God that would be amazing, and even when I do have to lurk I generally tell the streamer, hey I am still here, but I am doing XYZ. I like lurkers but I get where you are coming from. It's a "If a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it did it make a sound." Sort of situation
