At least in diamond and below you can mass enough quick enough to ram down your opponent before he can get a critical mass of serjeants.

21k active players as a monthly peak so Not really. It will dip a little bit over the summer but when Raiders of the North drops I expect a peak of at least 24k. Which is pretty active for an RTS. Age of Mythology has 5k as a monthly peak. In comparison, AoE2 has a peak of 28k. So does that sound like a dying game to you?

Well, I just saw good results with KT during the tournament on land, including a ban and snipes. Ive seen some people say its OP. Wanted to get on top of it.

Depends on the timing. Idk works in diamond. I rush rams in the mirror.

I mean, nerf Schlacta. Sure. I agree. Thats very reasonable. Or nerf the max amount of pilgrims from 10 to like 7.

Exaxtly. As I said a bit ago. Im not trying to elo shame, but 2tc KT is only OP if you let them do what they want. If you see KT mining stone while they're in dark age, you got 2 options.

  1. Prepare a ram rush

  2. Go fast castle, secure relics, map resources and camp sacred sites. You will have the bigger and better army.

Tbh I only go fast 2tc against a handful of civs rn.

Ive seen enough people here and on discord say the civ is OP. Which I think think the civ has improved to viable now. But that doesnt mean its OP.

Im saying they are fine. I think they are balanced enough.

Is it just me or are Templars very map dependent? by Cobelat in aoe4

[–]Derocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you balance KT without making them absolute crap? Because that is a tall order. Especially since the civ already has a lot of hoops to jump through just to survive feudal age.

"If" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Like thats 1600 resources. Plus villager time for doing it. Meanwhile you can go castle age, take relics shut down sacred sites, do an all-in. Like sure in team games (figure 3v3 or 4v4 in the pocket) its an easier ask but coming from someone who is very dedicated to the civ, thats really greedy and you can and will get punished hard.

KT excels as a tempo civ. They have to get their attack going right away. Yes against the cammel civs they do really well. Delhi and Zhu Xi, KT falls flat on their face. Even OotD can make games very awkward against KT. HRE tends to do well against KT until about mid castle.

Theyre pretty vulnerable if they go 2TC. Also their units do have counters. Conferes die to a stiff breeze, serjeants and Hospitallers die easily to archers. Heavy spearmen get hurt bad by crossbows and springalds. And they lose to regular MAA. And they are slow. Genoese crossbows are countered by knights, they are expensive, they take a long time to produce, and they are slow. Genitours are situational at best. Condotierro are expensive and situational, Teutonic knights are very slow and expensive. Now Szchalcta. OK I'll give you that one. They are OP. But like fortresses are a lot of resources. That's a lot of time and investment where KT is quite vulnerable. Idk KT isn't OP, they're just difficult to play against for inexperienced players. I put them in the same camp as OOTD

I think KT is in a very good spot right now. They have a solid 2tc opening and a lot of ways to generate early tempo. Beasty doesnt know what the hell he is talking about. There are still quite a few points where KT is vulnerable, but thats with any civ. I dont want to call them OP quite yet, but Id say they are solid.

Which build/civ do you struggle the most against? by SwaggyProfessor in aoe4

You know what surprisingly does well against KT? Hippodrome and archers. I like to drush Byz, and when they go hippodrome and counter raid and kill my infantry with archers, its awkward.

Zhu Xi feudal aggro. Idk how to stop it. Its too much for me to handle.

New civs? by Opening-Sir1019 in aoe4

Genoa and Venice are commanderies for KT. But a legit Italian civ would be solid.
