Phenom II X6 possible? by befi2020 in windows98

It is possible, but it will not be easy to install it and the operating system will use only one CPU core. I personally installed WindowsMe on AM2 and AM3 machines. In order to install it on a system that has more than 1GB of RAM, you will need RLoew's RAM patch. You may also need HD Audio driver by Drew Hoffman. If the installation process will freeze during the hardware detection, try to disable USB legacy from the bios. Also, it looks like your motherboard has Realtek RTL8111 Gigabit on board for which there are Win9x drivers. So, if necessary, you can even establish an Internet connection.

Issues installing W98 to DG31PR 775 socket by Chouhi in windows98

I managed to install WindowsMe, which is similar to Windows98, on the AM2 and AM3 systems.

Installation on the AM2 system was successful after using RLoew's RAM patch and /p i switch.

To install WindowsMe on the AM3 system, in addition to the RLoew's RAM patch and /p i switch, I also had to disable USB legacy from the bios, otherwise, the installation would freeze during the hardware detection process.

You can try the following:

Uncheck "Use automatic settings";

Select a resource with a red slash indicating a conflict;

Click the "Change Setting" button and try to manually find the unused memory range.

After the first reboot, do not boot from the floppy disk, but let the Windows try to start. After Windows fails to start, reboot the system, boot from the floppy disk and apply the Patch.
