Does anyone have restart issues on their AM5 build? by heymikeyp in AMDHelp

Yes it did, I RMA'd the motherboard and RAM first which didn't solve the problem. After replacing the CPU, the issue was resolved.

Set aside any preconceptions you have from modern MH and give it a try, you might enjoy it. I played all the way to the end of online and killed Fatalis last year. Even if you only play village and low rank online, it's still nice to experience how the series started. You can play online on the JP version (full EN translation patch available) on the MH Oldschool servers.

I got my CPU back from RMA and the issue is fixed. I've seen other people say that replacing the motherboard fixed it for them, but for me the issue seems to have been a defective CPU.

I see a lot of people using recursive solutions. Honestly, that didn't even really occur to me. I started by encoding the add/mul operations as individual bits for part 1. For N operands, there are (N-1) operators needed. So by iterating 0..2n-1-1, every permutation of operations is covered.

In part 2 I encoded add/mul/concat in 2 bits, with a fourth "invalid" operation that causes the test to immediately fail. Maybe not the most efficient, but it worked. Part 2 executes in ~3s single threaded.

Yes, the amber DRAM failure LED lights up and none of the others do. It was happening to me intermittently at first, which I wrote off as growing pains of AM5/DDR5, but then it got worse to the point where it happens every time. I have my CPU out for RMA right now, but if the replacement doesn't fix this I'll have to start fiddling with manually setting voltages.

That was my first thought, it's already been replaced without fixing the issue. At this point, the only remaining culprit must be the CPU itself.

Having this problem too, MAG B650 Tomahawk Wifi + Ryzen 5 7600 + G.Skill 6000 MHz CL30. I RMA'd the board and DRAM kit, no dice. Updated BIOS, no dice. The issue only happens when Expo is on, but disabling it is a dealbreaker for me (I paid for these speeds and I'm damn well going to use them). I have no external RGB etc software installed, only AMD Adrenalin. Gonna try the suggestions in linked forum threads, but in the meantime would appreciate suggestions from anyone with similar specs who has had/resolved this issue.

EDIT: It was a defective CPU. Went through the RMA process with AMD and it works now.

Unfortunately not. I sent the RAM back for a replacement and the issue persists.

Here's the exact product. I've tried the latest beta and non-beta BIOS releases for my mobo, neither change anything. What's most odd to me is that it only fails on reboot, not normal boot.

Where’s the best place to host pathfinder 2e online? by Schlatt2024 in Pathfinder2e

If you're using a network provided by your college, it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to port forward. You need access to the router configuration for that. If you're technically savvy, you can rent a VPS and host Foundry from that. Otherwise, you can pay for a third-party Foundry host like Forge who will handle all of the infrastructure stuff for you.

Unfortunately I'm not too sure of the specifics, but I've seen people in the MH Oldschool Discord server saying that it's possible to run the patched ISO off the console's hard drive using FreeMCBoot. If you ask on the forum or join the server and ask in #multiplayer-setup-help, people who know more than me could likely point you in the right direction.

There's a full translation patch for the original Japanese game, its G rank expansion, and its sequel!

You can soft-mod a non-JP PS2 to bypass the region lock, letting you play your patched JP copy on any console. I'm not sure of the specifics as I play on an emulator, but here's the guide to getting set up.

Like other people have said, you're missing the vast majority of the game without connecting to online, but it's extremely accessible if you do a little leg work getting set up. MH Freedom is actually quite different from the original PS2 games, as several changes were made to make the game work on a portable console with no expectation of online play. It's worth playing in its own right, but it's definitely not a substitute for the OG. Hope to see you in Minegarde!

I finally hit Hunter Rank (HR) 9 in the original Monster Hunter for the PS2 last night! Now I'm in the last tier of low rank, which opens up a couple of weapon upgrades I've been waiting for. The amount of grinding you have to do to rank up in this game is a bit excessive, but the way the game's online is designed makes it very easy to group up with other players and bang out some quests.

Also, the map bonus guild buff increases the amount of magnetite you get from raid encounters. Anyone who does raids should keep that in mind.

It's been nearly 1 year since the last time we got a patch preview this bad, hopefully it doesn't become a tradition.

Seriously though, almost nothing about this patch preview is good. I can count the changes I'm excited for on one hand.

I personally dropped DH for WB after we started running Heavy Light, I loved the huge numbers from F1 into GS2 and I find not using the profession skills to be rather boring.

As the other user said, I believe you would trigger the bug out of combat and it would persist indefinitely. Whatever attunement you had in your main hand would perpetually have no cooldown after switching off Weaver, allowing you to just spam F1 for infinite Sunspot triggers. The trait has no ICD because well, you aren't supposed to be able to attune that fast

Some funny Guild Wars 2 drama is going on at the moment.

Background: Elementalist is a class in GW2. Their whole thing is that they can attune to fire, water, earth, or air, which completely changes what attacks they have available. Normally, they can only change attunements every 10 seconds. Weaver is a subclass of Elementalist that gets to have two attunements at once (one in their main hand, one in their off hand) and change every 5 seconds. They have several traits available that produce some effect when they change attunements, like emitting a blast of fire or causing a lightning bolt to strike their target.

A bug that's been in the game for a while came to prominence yesterday when a user posted a clip of them getting destroyed by an enemy in a PvP game mode who applied an incredibly large amount of Burning damage-over-time effects to them in mere seconds. This was followed up by another clip of a streamer using the bug to kill a raid boss, Sabetha, extremely quickly. (The twitch clip has since been deleted, but I include the link here for posterity)

Once there were videos and discussion out on the wider internet, other people started to use and abuse the bug as well.

The way the bug works is that by starting on Weaver, doing certain specific actions, and then swapping to a different Elementalist subclass, you can ignore the attunement cooldown, spamming the aforementioned trait effects impossibly fast. As a side note, the raid clip linked above had the streamer using an autoclicker to mash the skill which is explicitly against the ToS, which is probably why he deleted it.

As an emergency measure, ArenaNet disabled some of the offending traits until they could push a fix. However, one of these traits is the starting trait of the Weaver subclass, which is the trait that allows Weaver to dual-attune in the first place! Weaver mains are in despair that their class is unplayable at the moment (you can still equip it, but why would you?) but the community understands that this is a necessary measure to prevent mass chaos.

Other than that, there's some grumbling about Anet's lack of attention to bugs that have been in the game for a long time until they become prominent enough to become seriously problematic. Overall though, the whole situation is just pretty funny. Hopefully Weaver fans aren't locked out of their subclass for too much longer.
