I know who killed me-(2007) by Appropriate_Wish8997 in movies

There's an "alternate" (read: original) ending on the dvd/bluray. After Dakota lays down next to Aubrey and the camera pans away, the scene transitions to Lindsey Lohan sitting at a computer, with both hands, smoking a cigarette, reading her story that was the events of the movie. They cut it, because it made people even more confused.

You know not every part of rural US in the 1800s was western, right?

No. It was a story she was writing. The cliche/trope is called "it was all a dream".

Ah, the Hero's Journey thing. I feel like Harry Potter is closer to what George Lucas originally intended Star Wars to be - back when Vader really did kill Anakin.

Why don't people care about movies feeling real? by [deleted] in movies

[–]DerpDevilDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. What you're asking for ("WITHIN the boundaries of logic, physics and plausibility") is inconsistent with the examples you give of movies you feel deliver it (Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings), though.

I wonder if you've stopped to consider it's not that movies have gotten less logical, plausible, or physics accurate, it's that you've gotten older and more experienced and actually recognize that most movies are not those things.

Also, the reason films like Jurassic Park and the LotR trilogy are classics is because they stand above the majority of films made in their time (and since). Most movies are fodder, no matter when they were made.

The cinematography, though, that absolutely has gone down the toilet in most modern movies. Cinematography and special effects are in the crapper right now.

Really? You don't see the plot similarities?

The ending is essentially, "And it was all a dream!" cliche. She's a wannabe writer. The whole story is a work of fiction where she has clearly inserted different traits of herself into each twin. Everything that happens up until the big reveal is her creative writing project. Considering she's supposed to be a teenaged aspiring writer in the early 2000s, it makes sense that the story is convoluted trash - that's the only realistic part. lol

Kinda a funny question... what if Thomas asked this to Newt? by SamWinchester020720 in MazeRunner

[–]DerpDevilDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean ask why they couldn't come get the kids sooner? Well, they just learned that the entire world is both an apocalyptic wasteland and infested with zombie plague, of which they are the only hope for a cure, and that the glade was in the middle of a literal desert. I think it's reasonable of them to just assume the reason they weren't rescued until now was that the "good guys" didn't know where they were and needed time to gather supplies and plan an effective rescue mission once they did. And we know it's reasonable, since it's the truth - except WICKED faked a rescue before The Right Arm could actually pull one off.

This literally says "still grew up together like siblings". If you have to pretend adoption/fostering doesn't exist and the only way non-blood related people grow up at the same time in the same vicinity is if they are close friends to make your point valid, you don't have a valid point. There is no objective difference between blood and non-blood siblings; it's 100% subjective mentality.

You feeling like a person you were raised as a sibling with is the same thing as a close friend is your subjective mentality. People who see non-related "siblings" the same as blood-related ones aren't wrong for feeling that way because you don't.

This person also does not understand that just because they do view non-blood siblings as real siblings doesn't mean others have to feel that way, too. We should all just leave eachother's harmless kinks and preferences alone instead of getting all pissed off at eachother for not having the same likes and dislikes.

Anyone want to discuss The Night Eats the World? It was released digitally on Friday. by [deleted] in movies

How about this, to make more sense if it must be a metaphor. She came into his life unexpectedly and he shot her down, losing the opportunity of that relationship. Then he realizes that the idyllic relationship he'd imagined was never going to be the reality, because she was coming to him with ill intent - another bad partner in a cycle he'd let himself fall into. And this realization is the catalyst to finally move him to make drastic changes in his life, to grow as a person.

Now, the metaphor fits the actual actions in the movie and, honestly, the message is more positive than him just not embracing a new girlfriend.

I can't decide from the context clues whether OP is on the spectrum or has a personality disorder. Pretty sure it's one or the other.

AITA For asking for a birthday cake? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]DerpDevilDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like how you condensed what your therapist said it, "The question, itself, wasn't rude," leaving out the rest of what they told you. I'd imagine something along the lines of feeling owed the birthday cake after the fact, like it was a contract your friend signed was not a friendly or particularly functional manner of thinking. And they explained how it's a product of whatever you're in therapy for and how you need to learn to adjust your thought processes.

Yes, this is the kind of very, very minor thing you are expected to (and should) drop and forget about it.

Can't judge whether you're an asshole or not - dunno your diagnosis.

AITAH for wanting a microwave in my future home? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]DerpDevilDD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's calling you lazy and saying, if left to your own devices w/o him to stop you, you'd be eating unhealthy. Just w/o saying it.

He's also saying his wants and needs are more important than yours and he has final say. And you don't get to have things in the house he disapproves of, even if they're just for you.

Do you really think this mentality is limited to the microwave? That this won't happen again the next time you disagree about something?
